My name is Thadeus Lammar and I am a half-orc. I do not like the term as due to my heritage and the violent way in which I was created, I have spent my life in torment and punishment by cruel, sadistic pure bloods of both race. I have fought for my place alongside noble, true-hearted humans and I thought that in this place of Sanctuary our race is one who has the right to be treated as equals.
Last Dark, I was insulted and challenged by a rude and cruel human who thought his race better and I not worthy of my faith... I understand that he is ignorant and does not know better than to think himself superior. He fairly beat me in battle and I agreed to the terms of my defeat, for I am a man of my word. I shall not name him as he is not worthy of mention here.
What has left me feeling in a dark and hopeless mood was his companion, a half-orc who was willingly treated as an animal, an individual who seemed honourable and brave but when talked down to by this human stepped in line and acted as though the human was better than he. He was treated like an animal and just accepted 'his place'. He was not given the respect he deserves as a noble and courageous being and he accepted this as the way it should be.
I wouldn't be here if I'd accepted slavery by the drow and hadn't escaped, but most humans are not cruel and evil like drow or ignorant like the man who challeged me over my faith last dark.
I have spent my life fighting to be treated on even terms and I hope there are others who feel the same - this is not a call to arms against humans but a call for our kind to stand up for ourselves for we are brave. Not to be trampled underfoot but to take our place as equals in this place of darkness for we have rights, challenge ignorance and act with honour.
Any who have been treated this way and feel the same must rally round, our voice can be heard if we speak as one.
