I have started this thread for players to share their experiences where the Dms have tweaked a particular quest you were on or added a special touch / possessed NPC to your surroundings.
I know a related this in another thread but wanted to add it here - Last night in the bat quest the creature at the end did not attack but instead wanted to explain it's story and why it was there and asked to be left alone - Took myself and the other character completley by suprise and we had a blast for 5 minutes - was such a refreshing change.
In the end we killed it anyway - had our evil tweaked a couple of points and gained a small XP bonus and claimed our reward from the guard - but it is touches like that, that really make the difference - I don't know how the DM was but hope you are on more often when the Aussies are out and about.
Cheers

Anytime Howland is in a quest with the Chosen, be prepared to learn what bastard tactics are, always fun to see what nasty tricks they pull out when he's at the wheel.
But my favorite DM posession.....was with the Golden Doubloons, we had 9 people and wanted to do goblin fortress, so Howland said ok he'd let us do it, but it would be rough, so we agreed. We fought tooth and nail every inch of the way to just GET to the fortress because two DM's were posessing some "goblin skirmishers" who were level 8 or so rogues with a vast supply of traps, invis potions, speed potions, curing potions, laughing gas, caltrops, choking powder, and just about every other dastardly gadget you can imagine. But mostly laughing gas. That sucked with our almost entirely fighter or fighter/rogue team. It was great fun, and I think we lowered the average level of the server by 1 with the amount of dieing that went on, hehe.
Was my favorite experience in a DM posession/quest.

A while ago Dal, Gabs, Dell, Stark and some others attempted to deal with the Red Smiles for the Tigereyes. We didn't even get inside the clubhouse due to Metro possessing one of the thugs and beginning to inquire why we were there and what bad had they done to deserve death.
It led to some interesting moral debate with both the Smiles and the Tigereyes, which ended up in so many party members leaving that the quest had to be abandoned eventually. It was great to see all of the party members relate to the difficult situation at hand according to what they thought was good and right (or whether they cared about such ideals at all...), particularly since two of us were paladins and one was a reckless, bloodthirsty barbarian that had great difficulty holding herself back during the debate :)
Without this intervention we'd probably just have hacked through the quest and collected our reward. Thumbs up to Metro.

The two quests I've been were with Howland. Both times someone (me the second time and someone else the first time) opened their big mouth in an OOC way and Howland made us pay for it!
The first time, the goal of the quest was to get a gnome artifact. As soon as I grab (was a rogue so I went invis to do so) someone chimes in OOC: "//cue the building to collapse, Indy lol"
Only seconds later, Howland rains Meteor Shower after Meteor Shower down on us then types "Howland: --the room shakes and begins to crumble--"
The second time was another journey into more gnomish cities and I say in IC: "Be carefu. If they have advanced machines like this, you can bet they have traps". Well up to that point we didn't see any. But after I made that comment we had so many traps that I filled my inventory from recovering them - and that was only 1/4 of the way in to the quest!
So for the record, the DM's respond and take good ideas from all of us, but be careful what you wish for!

DMs here all have such a great sense of irony, humour and generousity. Not just with goodies, but with attention and detail.
I mean, for goodness sake, on my first or second day in this server, Quadra examined the painting hanging in the Rock Bottom and wound up with the +1 drow half-plate she still wears to this day. Even when a halfling got it first! It wouldn't fit, and I was the only elf type around. ^_^ I'm just lucky no one has ever tried to apprehend me when I wear a helm, for looking Drowy.

When the server was fairly new I came here for a few days... I was playing a half orc named rupert.
We were doing a quest and a child NPC in the area, died.
We put him into a bag and brought him to gobbler.
We sold the orphan corpse to gobbler.
He had to hit the feet a few times with a laddel to keep the corpse in the pot.

My second day in efu I was playing Chris Tain (monk version)
I walked up to dholt's caharacter and he persuaded me to come with him to "sparr". I agreed and we went over by the dark lake. Then he threw some bags at me that sent a gas in the air and he said he was experimenting. He then tried to get through the gas to attack me...I wasn't effected and everything he tried to attack he ended up being affected by the gas(yea for +8 everything)
After the gas failed he just attacked me and beat me to submision. Then he procceeded to rip out Chris Tain's right eye giving it as a tribute to Shar. Chris Tain laughed and said he was suffering for Ilmater. As it procceeded Ilmater started talking to Chris Tain. There was only one explanation. Metro. I have never forgotten that and it was great because it was only my second on the server and I was already talking to a god. Oh yeah and Ilmater too. XD

Howland through in a dreat little diversion in the Mauseleum yesterday.
I was playing a new Elven Cleric of Corellon (Canarlus) and he and a lady Elven Fighter Mercedes)had just cleaned out the mauseleum.
We were on our way back when a vengeful Spirit appeared and told Mercedes to back off and that Canarlus was hers - The spirit backed it up casting fear on Mercedes and then pledged her love to Canarlus and reminded him of a pactthey had signed and asked he to discard his mortal form and join her.
This was fabulous - the spirit and Mercedes were going at it hammer and tong and then the Sprit went nuts and it was on - we came through it a bit drained but it was a blast - such a great twist and very flattering that Canarlus' attraction to the opposite sex reaches beyond the grave.
Well done Howland - please keep them coming.

Well, this was without doubt the sweetest DM tweak I've ever seen. My char was involved in some very cool PvP, which had me shaking in my chair. The lead up was equally as good, with some excellent RP shown by all those involved. My char died, same fashion he always does: wouldnt back down from a fight he knew he was probably going to lose.
I thought this was a very fitting end, so I was about to retire him when the DMs summoned a gate in the fugue....which led to my char's own castle in the Hells! For his lifetime service to Bane, he was granted a castle with all the slaves he could flay, cigars he could smoke and food and wine he could consume for eternity.
Simply awesome.

I agree. Eo died twice in one day, unfortunately just before DM intervention both times. I let her get res'd the first time, but twice in the same day was a bit much, especially having cheated certain death another time in the past (see the screen shot section for a peek).
Related to that, there's a certain synchronicity in her death and where it happened. It was a fitting ending.
Getting back in topic (of a sort), I understand the DM's are busy running the quest, so I certainly don't expect special treatment for a lone character sitting in the Fugue Plane or City of Judgment. It would have been nice though....
Regardless, kudos to the DMs and the incredible job they do on this server.

I actually think the DMs do that quite a bit -- or, rather, as much as they can.
An example: My last character lured a certain PC to a certain place, and attempted conversion, explaining quite simply that refusal would mean death. Despite knowing that his character would die and be full-looted, with next to zero chance of survival, the other character stayed true to his deity to the bitter end, and eventually got killed.
The player told me that his character got to party in the Fugue with Drow virgins, though, so I assume he was doing something right. ;)
Nevertheless, I third (fourth?) this trend of giving characters that are going to be perma-killed some small semblance of recognition in the Fugue. It's good to know that someone up there thought your portrayal of religion XYZ was good enough that it deserved a pat in the back. I also think it stimulates PCs that witness those endings to strive to act more (for, or against) with religion in their minds. In summation, it seems to make religion an undeniable part of the world, without having to drop God loot all over the place, give every religious PC his own godly vision, or make a plot with every God in the book in it.

DMs are a fan of giving afterlife parties to great characters that died in PvP or other plot-related stuff.
The most amusing by far was Edgin Butler partying out with a million Eilistraeean naked drow. I hope someone has screenshots of that.
We may not always have time to run these, but if your long-term character is being retired you should feel free to send a DM message indicating that he's praying to his/her deity to be taken away to the true afterlife.

Yeah thanks there. You killed off my character's (Menelanna's) boyfriend! Ask her friends she was depressed for quite sometime!
Well I should also say what my favorite DM intervention was. It was went I was using Calia, priestess of SUne and accolyte to the House of Light. Calia, Eo, and Chell went to do Hoar temple. In the final battle Eo was killed (that was the last time anyone ever saw her  ). Chell and Calia went down but were not in the fuage yet. Then out of no where one of the DM's pops in as a Divine Advenger and saving mine and Chell's lives! Too bad Chell killed himself not even an hour later.
But it still was pretty awsome to be SAVED by a DM and have them trying to kill me! Thanks to you guys doing that Calia has not died once yet. And I plan to keep it that way!

Went on a great DM quest the other day out in the badlands - there were just three of us and the trek out there and back was interesting enough.
This is the first evil aligned quest I had ever particiapted in and it was fascinating to see it from the other perspective.
To rescue the crypt of an intelligent Mummy from a maurading band of Paladins was a hoot. They wouldn't listen to the fact that it was private proporty and respectful requests to leave instead they attacked us and after a battle through a numbr of chambers eded up in a fierce fight where the Mummy was helping us out.
Was weird to see peopel casting inflict spells to cure undead battling beside us.

I had a blast last night, thanks to Ladocicea. A core group of Spellguard with some help from concerned citizens ( :P ) went out investigate an infestation of gnolls in the mines.
Little did they know there was the biggest beasty I've ever seen in NWN apart from dragons sitting in there waiting for us. The blasted thing chased us all over the place through the tunnels, trying to eat us and the gnolls that had lost control of it, until there was a massive melee at the end with huge numbers of gnolls, the beasty itself (it was a Gargantuan Chained Pet Deep Lizard for those that might recognise it  ) and us all hammering away at each other.
I'm still kicking myself I didn't get any screen shots, but I was too busy running and fighting to remember that at the time. I was on a roller coaster and hanging on for dear life!
Top effort, Ladocicea!

I remember two tweaks that happened about 2 weeks ago, both brilliant.
One was a dm taking control of a goblin rogue in the Brewrey quest. He snuck up, sneak-attacked the party wizard dropping him to negatives. I then went up, healed him up, then chased the goblin, who, upon seeing Kaddaz run at him, screamed "Eeeek" and fled, a little thing but funny none-the-less
Another happened in the gnoll baracade. The first gnoll elite we encountered held off our two meat-sheilds, then Rissi goes up and sneak atatckeds him, he stops, looks and Rissi and screams "get the little one!" Good Stuff

When we burst in Hrunk screamed out to a goblin as i beat Hrunk up "Get the spelly Grabnob" The goblin named Grabnob ran after Vifur and was shouting "Grabnob Grab you!" I killed Hrunk and started chasing the Goblin who was squealing and shouting "Argh armour cheats! he cheats! why Armour try to grab grabnob?'

The hob also had an interesting twist with me. I happened to be playing with a bunch of new players and there was a gypsy in one of the storerooms. She came running at us screaming for help her from the goblins but for whatever reason someone in our party attacked her and she took off.
I knocked down my own teammate to get her to stop and took off after the gypsy but she ran out of the warehouse and was nowhere to be found.

A monk in the party snuck up and tried to stun him and missed and he slew the giirl - we killed the gnoll and there was some good RP of taking the girl to the Hold to be raised but she didn't want to come back.

There was another time yesterday during the hooked horror quest were I found myself carrying two bodies out the door, only to be stoped by a black avatar offering to raise them both and slay the hooks in our door. Yup, gotta say i loved that, caused some very sweet RP in the aftermath between a Watch, a Tiger, a young Halfling, and an old Halfling. And it leaves Lower free for just about anything.

Aye, I must give props for the whole revulution thing.
It's -great- that the DMs give PCs the chance to actually have influence on the server.
It's greatly rewarding when you feel you have done something to affect everyone elses characters, with your own.
