Letter sent to Accolyte Derber

Accolyte Derber,

I am writing to ask for your aid. You may already be aware, but three days ago, a group of adventurers you hired to cleanse your Temple, including Chell and Eowung of the House of Light, were attacked and nearly killed as they made their way out, after having already ridded the Temple of all undead threats.

My purpose in writing is to see what, if anything, you recall about this event. As I understand, the Temple is warded against entry and only you can grant access. Did you grant anyone access after Chell and Eowung's party? If so, do you know who or can you describe them? If not, is it possible someone bypassed the Temple wards? What type of magic could do so?

The person(s) responsible also robbed the party you hired of basically everything they owned. Did you see anyone carrying several packs, including at least two sets of full plate armor? Or did someone make numerous trips into and out of the Temple? Any descriptions or names you could provide would be helpful.

To my knowledge, Hoar is the god of vengeance and retribution. yet those who were attacked in your Temple committed no crime; they were good and pure of heart. The attack was unwarrented and this seems like it would be an affront to Hoar, his dogma, and your Temple. Any aid you could give may help in the capture of those responsible for insulting Hoar and with their capture, Hoar's will may be done and he may take his revenge on those who dare insult him.

You may reach me at the Rock Bottom. I thank you for your time and any aid you might give.

May the gods protect you.

Kara Jassan, paladin of Ilmater

Kara Jassan,

Thank you for your letter, and I apologize for the lateness in my response. My continued efforts to reclaim the Holy Temple of Hoar against the vile, corrupting forces of darkness have given me little time for paper work.

The Temple is not warded against entry, and other than the simple barricade anyone is able to enter there without my permission. Unfortunately I did not observe or recall anyone entering the Temple on the day of the incident, leading me to conclude that any trespassers were cloaked under deceitful magics of invisibility.

Know that these crimes that occured in what was once a holy place shall be duly punished. Place your trust and faith in the justice of the Doombringer, whose name is Hoar, and act as His instrument and justice will be done.

Your sincerely,

Acolyte Derber
