Stone Norma

I think it's a bit silly that PCs are able to sell poisons and other illegal goods to legitimate Upper Sanctuary merchants. Is there anyway to make contraband impossible to sell to Upper NPC merchants?

Really, Norma should be exiled or stoned by now.

Not without making all loot unsellable, no.

Just place an OOC descriptor on her NOT to sell poison to her.

Really

One of these days they're going to stone Norma when somebody suggests it and everyone in upper will have to travel some horrific distance or get ripped off by the pawn broker in lower to sell loot.

How bout just write a script that keeps track of who sells her what. If you're caught selling her poison, you are reported to the Watch!

I think an OOC note would probably be best, I mean, poison sells to NPCs for about 1 gold piece, I don't see why one would sell it anyway...

Norma is lucky sten is dead. Few watchmen where as good at beating down criminals as sten.

The only way to get this silly thread back on topic is to refute this troublesome troll:

I think it's fine, really. Most decent players know it's illegal and that a reputable merchant like Norma obviously wouldn't sell poison to generally law abiding customers.

I guess an OOC note could be helpful, but I doubt anyone's going to seriously think that Norma should be arrested ICly because of an OOC bug.

I don't think anyone should buy it. Frankly if I can't sell Harrison armor and weapons to her (or back to him) then why are merchants accepting strange vials for even a few coins. Most merchants would have no idea how to distinguish different poisons, and perhaps not even poison from foul smelling ooze, for example.

Norma accepts poison because she accepts tooth charms, oil, bedrolls, medicine, tonic, torches, and all other manner of Miscellaneous items.

Norma accepts necromancy scrolls because she accepts scrolls.

We could, of course, make her refuse to buy any miscellaneous items and any scrolls. Merchant restrictions are done by base item type. There is no "poison" base item. Posions are actually covered by multiple base item types - thin, small and crafting component.

The suggestion to mark poisons and necromancy scrolls "Stolen" is probably the best suggestion in this thread, if you really care that much about this.

I made this same thread not long ago, and to mark them as 'stolen' really was what I suggested back then.

Oh, I have a question on this. Animation scrolls are illegal. But are infliction and -ve energy spells? the law only says "necromantic items (that animate or summon undead)". I've been barreling animations scrolls, but selling inflicts to Norma or Perdupon, as Sugriam will sell -ve energy wands so I assume they're legal. Should I keep those only for the Pawnbroker?

On that note, surely the Pawnbroker *should* buy illegals though even after a change, shady and located in lawless Lower as he is.

Your character should ICly contact his government.

Alright. I just wanted a quick DM answer in case it was something at the same level of absurd as selling her animate dead scrolls in the middle of the market near a couple of Watchmen. Obviously not, so sure, I'll sort it IC. Thanks.

If you think of it in other ways, poison can used to create anti-toxins and other useful stuff. It would be better to consider she has some basic knowledge in how to create anti-toxin through use of the poison adevnturers sell to her than just banning it outright.

As for the necromancy scrolls, best solving them IG.
