One hundred Pushups

Hey folks. Doubt this will generate a whole lot of interest.

I came across a link to this site and have decided that I'll be giving it a try.

Essentially it's a free training program designed to get people up to doing 100 push ups over the course of two months. It's specifically targetted to people of low to moderate ability, which admittedly suits me, and probably a good chunk of the others in this community.

The problem with any of these exercise routines is that they require a great deal of self-discipline and determination to complete. The idea then, is to get as many interested as possible together to cheer eachother on and reach the goal as a group.

At any rate, I'll be beginning the program starting Monday. I'm notoriously bad about self-discipline though, so I'd absolutely appreciate any ridicule or humiliation thrown my way for not pulling it off. Naturally, I'd also be more inclined to pull it off myself, if it meant I could ridicule others who were not doing it, and also take solace in knowing there are others doing it with me.

I'll be in #100pushups on IRC. Channel will be registered, but not-secret. If anyone at all is interested, drop in. I'd like to get a good group going by the end of the weekend.

Cheers.

100 push ups over the course of 2 months isn't that like one and a half push ups a day

Some of us aren't so negative. If I find any of them I'll let you know however.

Thomas Not Very Wise Fail!

derflaro 100 push ups over the course of 2 months isn't that like one and a half push ups a day

I believe the idea of the exercise was to be able to do one-hundred pushups at one time, on the last day.

I used to do 30 pushups every day, anymore and I used to cripple myself. :(

This site however has interested me and I'll happily join you Kotenku in the quest for 100 pushups.

Bulk bod or bust!

Yeah, I'm in on this too. I need to get back in a bit of shape so I can go back to doing judo at university.

I have always had this odd desire to be able to do 100 push-ups. I'm pretty fit already, just can't do more than maybe 35. My shoulder is screwed up but in a few weeks when it is better I'll do this program, definately. In the meantime, i'd be happy to give you crap with the idea of getting you to do it....

Good luck with it, seems doable.

Good for you, Kotenku. Best of luck.

Lets talk push-ups... http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=5855656646173850173&q=push%20up&hl=en

And then there are the crazy people! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0Mbf_WPWSU8

*puts on his old US Marine Cover (Hat for the rest of you)*

You better frickin' push right now, chest to the deck.

*takes cover(still hate to the rest of you) off*

You can do it, Kotenku. Repitition...repitition...repitition. :)

Here is the next dimension of push-ups:

Beyond crazy is meditation and enlightenment. This is getting into the realm of mind-body awareness that Bruce Lee's 'one inch punch' derives from.

Stay in the zone long enough and we all can do this.

6 tonnes being lifted at one stage.

and some commentary that gives hope to all us oldies ;)

Enjoy!

How about a hundred pull-ups? Man, the sheer Newtons of that for me is incomprehensible...

Good luck!

...you'll need it.

I'll give it a go, why not.

I will do this. I've always been pretty gimpy, never able to get past 20 or so pushups as far back as I can remember (more embarassingly, my pull-up limit is about 5). Time to become less gimpy.

Finished Day 1. Still time for anybody else interested in getting more in shape to hop on. IRC is #100pushups. Trolls will be ruthlessly b&.

i can do like 7 now

Go get 'em, tiger.

thanks but im derflaro

Day 1: Learned that push ups and Dad's Army (classic UK comedy show) DVDs do not mix, as you can't exercise properly while sniggering. :D

Day 1 finished easy enough.

This is all for DylAyna, and HELLO EfU!
