Flavor Text

I like the random flavor text you get when traveling by ship on the Dark Lake. It reminds me of the old table top modules, and it adds alot to the feel of the setting. I would like to see these sprinkled around the module more, in whatever areas the dms would think appropriate. They need not be longer than a sentence or two in order to appropriately set the tone.

I agree. !st edition modules really set a scene. Later editions became more flashy art, and a lesser quality module. Setting the tone is really something that makes an area shine. A lot of old modules are great just to read through...it hearkens back to the day when it was a labor of love, rather than all about tha benjamins-yo >.>

I am not sure if EfU uses a script like this, but check it out.

This allows you to put all the flavor text in the mod into a single script, instead of an individual script each time you want to add flavor text.

I would love to see more flavor text - especially informing you of how long you've traveled, to give us an idea of distance between areas. For example, I know Traensyr is several days away from Sanctuary but because of the limited number of areas we have in EfU it is hard to get that feeling.

Not a bad idea! Though I'm not certain whether I'd like this to happen retroactively or not. A good idea for future areas since I'd rather scripters/builders spend more time on those than reworking old stuff for flavor!

I'd like to elaborate.

While it's certainly cool to see it on quests, I'd really like to see more emphasis on adding text to describe places that are non-quest and special in their own rights, such as abandoned temples, random caves, frequented buildings without permenant residents, etc..

If its decided to incorporate more flavor text, I offer to write them, if the Dms don't feel like it.

Flavor text might provide RP fodder, which would be nice. Id rather random events like Kua-toan attacks, though.

Unsuitable for a gameworld maintained by several people. Our current one works excellent but has the disadvantage of being easily forgotten.

Feel free to PM or post in the Suggestions forum areas that should have flavor text, and what you think they should say. We have a very simple and powerful system for adding as much as we could possibly want.
