Letter to Risgar, the Crone

My friend, You may find is best to abandon plans for a beholder or hook horrors in the basement fight. The only hunter I found has no interest in capturing them to perish later, and has threatened death to anyone bringing such things in to Lower.

I had hoped he's see it as a great opportunity to demonstrate his skills and the danger of aberrations, but it seems not.

Once you settle on a plan for the fight night, let me know. If you've got a straight sparring contest, I will still be around to play. If you are running anything I object to though, I shall have to withdraw my services.

Good luck with finding contestants for the ring. -Egon

Risgar, I didn't want to discuss this openly due to threats, but you really need to know what you'd planned to get into. Have you ever seen a beholder? I thought you meant the floating eyeballs around the tunnels, not their giant cousins.

According to the aberration hunter, Hafur (do NOT let him know this was your idea, or you'll likely end up floating in the canal if he has his way) they can kill with a single glance, prevent to employment of all magic around them, and he wouldn't face one to kill it without a small army, let alone capture one! he explained this in no uncertain terms some time before we met yesterdark.

Hafur informed me that should even a blind one get loose it could wreck half of Lower before killed. Next time you have a plan like this, I suggest you do some research so you know exactly what to expect. You could have got youself killed by the "entertainment" or murdered by the Society of the Ordered Mind!

Have a talk with Doisur, and see what else you can arrange. I have suggested capturing one of the broken and aggressive small animatrons in the ruins around the city.

-Egon

Egon my friend,

What precisely do you think contacting men skilled in the hunting and killing of these things was? Research, obviously. If they say it's far to dangerous, then it's simply to dangerous and we move on to plan B.

Believe me, the last thing we want at the Crone is trouble. We're a business, and trouble is bad for business.

Oh, and plan B. Deep Malar Beasts. Would you ask your hunter friend his opinion on aquiring a few of those for us?

Risgar.

P.S

Do impress upon him, that we were simply bouncing the idea around. His vehement consultation on the matter has closed the idea, and he need not get all up in arms about it.

PPS

We don't generally fear for our lives either. I'm sure you've noticed the huge ogre guarding our taproom? I'd match him against this Hafur any day.
