Sanctuary Council,
An account of the events that occurred recently during the disappearance of Councilor Lancaster is included within this letter. While we at at the Fortress apologize for any presumed untimely response, we are currently in hot pursuit, and are investigating furtively suspects who may be the criminals responsible for this.
--Investigation Report, 16th of Hammer--
I had been on patrol earlier in the day to arrive back to the Fortress to see a female elf named Eowong relaying a report of an assault in the Temple of Hoar to my comrade, Mercenary Menthur. We quickly decided to investigate the crime scene in hopes of finding some still fresh evidence, and hopefully the bodies of her allegedly missing companions.
Councilor Lancaster assisted myself, Mercenary Menthur, along with the elven woman, and we began to investigate the scene. Of her companions mentioned to us prior to setting foot in the Temple, several bodies were missing. Collectively we decided to continue on to the lower level of the temple, in hopes of finding some clues as to where a body may have been hidden. While several coffins did adorn the area, no bodies were found.
It was at this moment the ambush struck. Four masked elves, or incredibly short humans, garbed in black struck, and struck quickly. Darkness quickly swept over us all, and I was knocked blind and deaf quicker than I care to recall. As I lay languishing and writhing in pain on that cold temple crypt floor, I found myself awake nearly an hour later, Mercenary Menthur brutally beaten laying nearby as well. No sign of the Councilor or the elven woman except for a grim trail of blood that led outside of the Temple. While the attackers did for whatever reason spare us our lives, we were left with little else.
The Tigereye Mercenary Company is the in process of investigating rumours of drow based in Sanctuary, who may or may not be operating missions of murder to set this City's council into disarray and chaos. We will continue to report our further findings as our investigation of the matter continues.
