Citizens of Sanctuary,
Recently, I have had a conversation with a citizen who expressed her desire to know what the Seekers are doing in an effort to find the Way of the Ascension. This citizen expressed her concern that the Seekers were too active with Sanctuary politics, rather then digging deep within the Underdark to locate this Way of the Ascension. So, in an effort to provide a bit more transparency to what the Seekers are doing for each of you, I write this letter.
The Seekers, who recently returned from exile, recognized that isolation from Sanctuary politics was not the key to finding the Way of the Ascension. Politics are a necessary part of obtaining resources necessary for insuring the protection of Sanctuary's most valuable commodity, which is each of you. As such, the Seekers returned to their duties as a member of the civil defense and obtained support from the Council and Sheriff for the following charter: a. Conduct clandestine missions within the Underdark to identify, exploit, and mitigate threats posed to Sanctuary interests. b. Collect and disseminate threat information to the Council and Sanctuary’s defense agencies. c. Professionally and objectively investigate allegations of tyranny and corruption and provide results to the suitable law enforcement and/or council representatives for action. d. Conduct operations in support of finding the Way of the Ascension.
The Seekers have conducted daring and offensive raids against slavers which resulted the freeing of hundreds of slaves, who now reside in Sanctuary. The Seekers have provided the defense agencies with critical intelligence information pertaining to threats posed to sanctuary, as well as enemy movements within the underdark. Moreover, the Seekers continue to aggressively look for the Way of the Ascension, despite significant amount of loses we have incurred during our searches.
Although the specific Way of the Ascension has not been found to date, we are currently investigation a multitude of leads. The Seekers continue to document and map the Underdark for the day that our mass exodus arrives. Additionally, we continue to report threats that are developed as part of our searches, as well as put down the slavers and threats that we are able.
The Seeker Organization continues to work aggressively towards fulfilling the responsibly outlined within the Seeker Organization charter. However, each citizen must keep in mind that the Seekers do this with only 1% of funding from the Council. Oftentimes, our missions are supported solely with the coins provided by common citizens or Seekers themselves. For those of you who wish for more tangible results, I would strongely suggest that you lobby your council representatives to increase funding to the Seeker Organization. Should any of you have any specific questions regarding the Seekers or their operations, I would warmly welcome them within the Seeker Hall. Citizens of Sanctuary are always welcome.
