Bardic Knowledge and Crafting Questions.

Hey. I have a question on crafting. As Lore is one of the modifiers when you roll agaist the DC, does Bardic Knowledge applies to it or not?

(edited to make the aim clearer) Also, my bard is aiming to to collect as many alchemical recipies as possible from the books in-game and publish them openly in the library. This is an IC act and goal, as he got frustrated by the lack of resources for budding alchemists.

It's not meant to be a spoiler, but could be seen as it by players who want the challenge of digging up the texts/persuading others to tell them the recipes. The problem is the conflict with "don't spoil the recipes for others" and the IC aim of my character to seek out and share useful knowledge.

So, I'm wondering if that's likely to create bad feeling and how best to deal with it. I'd thought of a few decent ideas in case a precise list of how to make any item I know of could be considered a spoiler.

-My character decides to write instructions that are more detailed in the methods than the texts, but are vague as to what the components actually are. For example, I might give the ratio of ingredients, but an obscure description of the reagents that requires a bit of detective work. That would mean that you could find all the recipe without experimentation, but only easily with both texts. It'd be neat to add another set of riddles to the game.

-He writes the book, but it keeps getting vandalized by jealous alchemists, and is always missing pages and bits of information so there's never complete recipes. For that I'd need a DM randomly sabotaging my posts through an NPC or a rivalry with another PC. There's at least one char I've got enough IC banter with that I might be able to play it into that if his player's cool with the idea. Something like this would be a good chance to play out PC conflict in a non-combat manner.
