Is getting a raise an OOC act?

I have been giving this some thought, and I am not exactly sure how a Cleric of certain deities, such as Kossuth, go about getting a raise in Sanctuary, or go about helping others get a raise.

There are only two places that I know of in Sanctuary where you can get a raise: The Shrine of Grumbar and the Shrine of Ibrandul. For Kossuth both are more than likely out of the question. Grumbar because relying on a Priest dedicated to the element of Earth would border on heresy, and Ibrandul because of their love of darkness. Even if their clergy are not direct enemies of the Kossuthian faith, they would at least be seen as threatening competition.

So this brings me to my question: Is getting a raise more-or-less an OOC act, similar to getting IG notes scribed? Or is it completely an IC act, one where you could potentially face a backlash (spell failure, bad vibes, whatever) from your deity for doing?

This would not just apply to Kossuth, but any number of other deities as well such as Cyric and Bane.

Its IC.

You're hardly going to get into trouble for being raised by others who use these temples.

If you're doing the raising yourself, you could always hire someone else to do it for you if your cleric would not ever deign to speak with members of the these two clergies (Ibrandul/Grumbar) even if it meant the return of your companions. Remember, its a polytheistic world.

Okay, thanks. I'll find a way to handle it all IC. Being a fanatical priest can be difficult sometimes. I just wanted to make certain that a cleric whose deity would, at best, be dubious toward those two deities would not get spell failure for trying to get a companion raised (or were raised by someone else at the shrines).

A penance or something of that nature might suffice to take care of a fanatical priest's guilt.

Thankfully, Sanctuary has a cleric of Grumbar and not Istishia!
