Councilor Page, coucilor Kainth, Sherrif Azzam (sealed).

Coulcilor Page,

I am Laith, a former member of the montezzi house. I write to you today to request a pardon of my previous crime and exile for the use of necromancy in an arena battle. It is my fault for not having completely identified the item previous to use, but I had acuired it from killing a chosen and believe it to be rodent in nature, not necromantic.

The reason I believe you should pardon these actions is not only that it was an accident and ended in doing no harm, but becasue of the services I have provided to Sancuary.

I was, as you most likely know, working with the now late watchman Komero to assassinate members of the Montezzi house. I believe you have seen a letter with Komero's signature on it and the seal of the watch on it. I was basically working as an unpaid member of the watch.

I myself felled 13 montezzi men, not to mention assisting in the death of the traitorous ex-Agent Semaj Lemalian. Because of my actions, when the Prince Rinaldo Montezzi went to fight the spider, he had no back up and died. I also fed more information to Komero than anyone else could hope to have done.

I now have the opportunity to further the city as a whole by helping to run the School of War. My extensive knowledge on the subject of war will not only aid those who train there, but I can also assist and work with the watch to make all those in that service more knowledgeable on tactics should a force attack the gates.

I send this plea to you not to have my recoprd erased, but the exile pardoned. I have preformed a great service to this city, and wish to reside with in its walls.

Respectfully, Laith

Mister Laith,

there is indeed much I have heard about you. Maybe you can understand that I am still a little skeptical.. There seems to be proof for all those great deeds, I just cannot help to wonder that they have gone unnoticed for so long. The fact that you name yourself as a former member of the house also confused me a little. What was your part in their numerous, most heinous crimes? But how ever that may be, I can see the charges that are raised against you are completely unrelated to this. In fact an exile seems a bit uncalled for in the first place, given the new lights of events that I am seeing them in. We are still pondering and discussing possibilities. I, myself, believe you have done your share.. But I let you know anyway that, if you could find anything incriminating on the remaining Montezzi members that now abjure their former allegiance and try to weasel their way back into our city, it would do nicely to improve my trust even more. I also believe I could back your plans for leadership of the School of War, but I assume you already know you might have to share those privileged duties. In any event, I ensure you your case and the role you apparently played in those past events will not be forgotten.

-Councilor Paige M. Saint

Councilor Saint,

The reason why the acts I did against the house went un noticed for so long is because of my paranoia of what would happen if I was found out.

I named myself as a former member of the house to show you that I will not be hiding anything. I was the rank of sergeant and the part that I played in the house was mostly training the force, and up holding Montezzi's law ont he streets. I wish I had gotten some names, but those stopped by me will note that I neither beat them down, nor fined anyone very often. If I did fine someone, it was only for 50 gold. I gave out ALOT of warnings to citizens.

New information that you may wish is obtainable through the watch. You understand why I would not keep such documents on me, for should I have been found out, they would destroy the integrity of the city further in Montezzi's eye than it already was.

Me and Kedrick have already come to our own solution as to what will be done with the School of War, and I am quite pleased with it. Kedrick and I have similar interests and ideas.

I thank you for your response, councilor, and please continue to keep me updated on the situation. If theres a way i can help, let me know. If it is something that you or I deem private, just make a sending for me.

-Laith

If you believe what you did to be the proper way in which to fight a War, then I am only convinced further that you have no business teaching our people anything.

The exile remains.

AZZAM

Azzam,

No I dont believe trickery and deciet is the "proper" was to fight a war. Though I was working for Watchman Komero, which means I was indirectly working for you. I did what was necessary to bring down house montezzi.

But this is not really about House Montezzi is it? It is about an accidental crime, that the councilor who over saw the trial himself said was most likely an accident. Since the scribe was there, it should have been recorded. This is, in my opinion, not proper justice. I have been working with upper since I entered montezzi, and I understand that most are still uncomfortable with me. But that fact that I did this city a service, and did it efficiently enough to not get caught, should have some weight.

I make this plea to you Azzam, I have proven my worth, not to mention if you read the transcripts the exile was highly unwarranted anyways. If you have not read my book, please have a look and you will know that I can help lead the school. Should you require a copy I will forward one to you.

Always remember, Azzam, that proper justice is to be found. And looking at the trial, no justice was found. Only the discrimination against a Montezzi that was the whole time your ally.
