Hi, I recently made a new Wizard char, and decided to go with a Faerie Dragon familiar. Unforunately, I forgot about the changes to Familiars, and didn't realise I'd get an Ooze Mephit instead. I can see about the familiars a bit on the rules page, but would you be able to post a stats/abilities list for the familiars on the forums?
Another character of mine wants to take a level of Wizard purely for the ability to use a Familiar for sending messages, scouting and the like. I was going for the Raven as one that would be able to talk (d20 SRD says it can) and not attract hostile attention from PCs. Of course, in EfU that's now a Floating Light, which is bound to get the "OMG MAGE EATER NUKE IT HARD!" reaction.
So if you can't get a big list, could you at least tell me if there's a worthwile "tough" familiar, and what the smart/stealthy ones are? Do any of them still have invisibility, and does the Eyeball still have the massive spell collection from vanilla NwN?
I appreciate the nicely atmospheric changes to familiars, but the lack of updated stat pages in the familiar screens does spoil things a bit.

There is a list of familiars on the website, with a hint in regards to their abilities. We don't do full-on stat posts for them.

Okay, that's fair enough, but could you say which ones can talk, and which may not? I've seen the guide, but I don't know enough on the specifics of the FR setting to know that.
Sure, I'll find out the familiar stats by working through them and have my wizard settle on one he learns to work well with. However, having something talk that should only say, gibber, would be immersion-breaking and an avoidable mistake.

The animals can't talk, neither can the ball of light. Things that could conceivably talk are the Dragons, Mephits, Imp, and eyeball.

Thanks. It was the Mephits and Eyeball that had me wondering. I knew about the dragon after a PC used her familiar to request help, and it's general poor explaining (An RPing of it's low int I found later) led my Rogue into accidental Hook Horror Disembowelment. It managed to be both a cool concept and very annoying at the same time :D .
