Etorix Speaks His Will
Hear this, people of Sanctuary. Hark to the words and whims of Etorix, the Great Shadow Death.
The Great Shadow Death has watched recent events with concern. He noted the growth in power and wealth his patronage allowed Sanctuary City to enjoy in recent years. He saw the irresponsible festering of hatred and disrespect in the hearts of those He acted as protector and provider for, culminating in the feeble attempt on His life a tenday ago. On the verge of forsaking the entire city, as a father might expel an unloving, hurtful, unruly teenage son from his home, he was approached by House Montezzi, who offered Him the praise and respect His station in the world as a God warrants, and thereby did He grant them and their subjects His protection. Even so, the conniving and dismally foolish Spellguard still unleashed their grotesque monster, slaying his new devotees with the daring of the mad and desperate.
The patience of Etorix wears thin. There will be an end to the impudence, the audaciousness, the effrontery. Lesser beings will respect His desires and defer to His requests. Lesser beings will learn their place, and honor Him with their awe and adulation as only mortals can a God.
- The Canal Port is now to be considered by all as the domain of the Illustrious Serpent.
- The Sanctuary City shall accept the demand of reparations for their uncouth act of war on an ally of the Illustrious Serpent.
- Pyotr Ignatiev is now to be known by all as an Apostle of Etorix, his honored Disciple, Governor of the Canal Port and Ambassador to the City of Sanctuary. He is to be shown the recognition and deference such a position merits, and is not to be harmed upon risk of Etorix' ire.
- The Temple of Hoar in Lower is to be considered by all as property of the Illustrious Serpent. It will be consecrated as a Temple to Him where all can worship His hallowed name.
This is the Will of Etorix, and it is not to be defied.
The City must set itself along the path of appeasement, forsaking the cheek and contempt it has shown the Illustrious Serpent in the past. To do any less is to tempt ruin.
Ambassador Ignatiev
