Hi, as you know, I'm a bit of a newbie here. Never played on an RP server, never played D&D either.
So, question about my bard/Cleric. I spent a good long time reading up on the Deities section because I really wanted to make a bard/Cleric with Healing Domain powers so he could specialise in curing wounds. Someone who doesn't aspire to gain great renown with his own stories of combat up close, but by helping others achieve greatness and writing about it. Only taking one level of cleric for the domain power, and having him concentrate on using his god's aid to help him with his arcane healing.
Anyway, settled on a cleric of Lurue at 2nd level because the dogma for it's pretty easy for a good-aligned Bard to follow. Spread joy, well he's a bard with entertaining songs. Work against evil with wit and kindness as a weapon of choice (I'm tried to get a bit of a verbal rivalry going with Gnorman's Evil Muffin Cult idea).
Question is, how much soapboxing for his deity does he have to do? Right now, I've had him offer to tend the wounds of some people he's seen looking badly beat around the place, and I tend to mention it often when asked about his skills, or when I've really saved someone's rear. I'm going for "tell those that might look on it favorably" rather than "walking divine billboard" and wanted to check I was playing it right.
I didn't set this guy up as a highly devout preacher, but as someone who wanted power to heal, and sought a patron who could aid him in doing so. A bit like the good version of those serving an evil deity out of desire for personal power rather than devotion.
