How would it sound not to give sleep or color spray to enemy spellcasters, as all it does generally is affect its allies.
How about magic missile/ summon/ ice dagger... Stuff that can't hurt their own team.
Same for higher lvl spells (although fireball-like spells is ok, as it hits everyone).

The ennemy spellcastes are not supposed to know which ones of their spells will harm their opponents and which won't.

Yeah... If they're spellcasters, don't they know what kinds of spells they use? :?

He meant that there is no way for spellcasters to know whether the enemy has, for example, PfE on them, which would mean they couldn't possibly know their sleep spells wouldn't work.
Though, I'd say this has not very much to do with that, considering there are little to no spells of that type at all so far, making it easy to avoid spellcasters by a simple hour/lvl spell. Spellcasters logically should have some sort of variation, and not just mind affecting magic.

I whole-heartedly agree. I would love to see spell casters cast....um......what now?

You want more instakills in THIS game? I can't think of much else that's more likely to have players going for the [hides in a barricaded room with a loaded Heavy Crossbow aimed at the door] approach. ;)

Why not just have their own people warded against such spells?
Goblins, for instance, could all have Protection from Evil on them. This way, when their own spell casters cast color spray or sleep, they aren't effected.... Of course this probably would make things incredibly difficult for evil casters since many many mobs would end up receiving PfE.

There a way to script something so that some of the monsters in the begining run back, letting the others know that there are intruders? That way they could have buffs. That would make it a lot more tougher, though. :? Would make it a bit more realistic, but this isn't RL, is it? :)
