I've never seen an enemy spellcaster use nightshade to avoid summoning mage eaters. Also, I've never seen one summon them, yet I frequently summon hordes of them with simple spells.
I believe Enemy spellcasters ought to be subject to the same deadly threat as the rest of us if they want to cast spells.

The fact that you've never seen them use it doesn't mean they don't. There may also be other means by which they avoid drawing them in that you and your characters have not discovered.

It would also require rewriting a lot of AI. <.<

I wouldn't mind it, if sometimes enemy spell casters dropped Nightshade. Assuming they use it.

It's the same problem which is why Subdual and such do not work on NPCS.
THe functions usedi nthe scripts retreive the values and fire from a PC only. they could probably be changed, but the sheer number of NPCS on the server that could fire the scripts is staggering and would definately contribute to lag.
Just have them drop nightshade, please >.<

Having casters occasionally drop nightshade would certainly be a pleasant suprise, Especially for those that don't want to be just buff engines at the beginning of a quest. (and don't wanna go broke on tons of nightshade)
Hope to see it considered.
