Howdy
Welcome.
My advice would be to start simple. Create a character and have fun, try to learn what is going on and what the server is like. Once you've got your bearings you'll be able to find something that fits your character quite nicely.
Talk, ask questions, explore.
Welcome to the Underdark. And yes, starting out humbly is usually a good idea, instead of hopping into DM factions or meta plots.
To be honest, I wouldn't recommend joining House Montezzi either for a first character, considering how we more or less guarantee PvP sooner or later for our members.
Hey there, welcome below the surface.
I disagree actually. I think jumping into a DM faction would be pretty good for you, as it will give you a pretty simple hierarchy to follow and throw you right into some plots so that you can really see what this server is about. Any one of the factions that catches your fancy on the website would be great!
Also, welcome and enjoy!
Welcome.
Be you, not what others make you.
While I don't think jumping into a DM faction right away is wise right while you're starting up, I don't think it could hurt to make a character who might be suited for Watch, Spellguard, Society, Pissing Crone employees, or whatever else, then working IC to make the connections and figure out if those groups are really what you thought they were at first glance. If it turns out they are, then you can submit your application and probably be approved.
Just rolling up a character who has recently escaped from slavery and stumbles into Sanctuary honestly strikes me as the best option for learning the server. Make sure you have a past and a worldview picked out, pair it up with classes, feats, abilities, and skills that represent the kind of personality you want to have, then make your friends IG the same way your character would after having just stumbled into this strange Underdark city.
Interesting personality will probably be an easier way to rock with your first character than coming in with grand goals for the city (although you should start getting an idea of your goals once you start to see the state of Sanctuary and the people around).
Other than that, all I have to say is welcome to the server. If you want to ask me any questions IG, feel free. I play the kobold named Kirix, you can usually find me in the Pissing Crone.
Hi! Welcome and enjoy your stay.
welcome! ! ! !
Welcome to the Underdark...
Welcome. I'm fairly new also and i'd like to share things i've noticed. Not all of it will be helpful depending on your experience with other servers.
- Begin with the intention to interact alot. Play your character so that others will want to take you under their wing. So begin fairly nebulous, and develop on the lines were you get the most attention. And be prepared to drop something cool about your character if its not going to fit or make it difficult for you to interact.
- Read all the sticky posts in each catergory of the forums. And then read them again later after playing for a while. Then later read them again. While in game you will learn a great deal, confirm what is learnt through the forum stickys.
-Character death can be extremely daunting. But learn to stay IC, even if someone screwed up or you did something really stupid. Character death can break a good IG vibe, learning to deal with that will increase others enjoyment playing with you, and build some RL character.
Thanks for all the responses. I appreciate it. So a little update on my first real day of EFU. I loved the beginning sequence when you get trapped. I made some acquaintances. did int see much in the term of factions while i was on. I guess just wandering people. Anyway some of the quests available in town and they were extremely useful in collecting cash and exp. I traveled some of the town. Mostly in lower which is where i found the majority of players. I learned that there is little to none of a banite faction here. So my first character 'morva' cleric of bane will try to collect maybe one or two worshipers. So its giving my guy some sort of purpose which is a must for RP. Anyway its been great and i hope to see everyone on later today! Thanks!
Welcome, and to add to the list Lee made. Try and join a faction, especially at first it may seem a little scary but all in all my time with the Mithrilsouls and the Greycloaks showed me the primary joy of a playerbase that you will always be forced to be around, but that doesn't you can't disagree with what they say. It also opens doors into what this city is really about. That will open cans of addiction and longing, plot holes and plot twists. All in all a good time had by everyone.
