Esteemed Montezzi guard,
You have in your possession a bastard sword which once belonged to the Sanctuary Watch. I am certain you don't wish to see war provoked between the Watch and the House you are supposed to guard - not jeopardize. It is only a matter of time before the Watch finds out about that blade, and then, you will lose it. Worse than that the Watch will suspect your fair and noble House of theft or worse in connection to that blade.
I'm willing to relieve you of this burden, Drat, by purchasing the blade. You will make a profit of gold, potions, and a replacement blade as well as perhaps a few magical trinkets as well. Since you're going to lose it anyway, in time, you might as well take a fair offer and profit from this dangerous situation.
You have one day to decide. I can only keep the tongues from wagging for so long, Drat. I'd hate to see what would happen if the Prince learned you were endangering his peace by carrying stolen Watch property.
One day. I will await your missive. I can be reached at the Grotto.
Suspensefully yours,
Vorkyn
Drat

Offer :
3,000 gold coins
10 Haste potions
15 Barkskin potions
7 Potions of Shielding
15 potions of invisibility
15 potions of Seeing
10 potions of Alignment protection
5 Potions of Clarity
One potion of Heal
One Bastard Blade of willpower and deep wounding ((ooc : plus one will, 1d4 massive critical)). This blade isn't as rare as yours, there are a few in town. But at least it didn't belong to one of the Watch.
And . . . my silence, which might be priceless. Though seeing as you've been careless others may already know - which is all the more reason to part yourself with this stolen property.
This is my only and final offer, Drat. I will await one final message from you.
It will consist of the word Yes, or the word No. If Yes, I will send a messenger for you to come alone to the grotto with the blade, and we will make a simple and painless trade. I'll be in green.

*written in a much more practiced hand than Drat's, and decidedly more feminine*
We will meet in person, within the Grotto, to discuss this. If you wish, alone. Decide a time, and I will be in the mirror room.

Vorkyn skims the first word of the letter, sees it is neither Yes or No, and doesn't bother to read further
