Suggestion: Darkness removing item Light.

If you have an item enchanted to emit light (either via the spell or simple as part of the item), can you please implement a way that if a cleric (either PC or NPC) casts Darkness on said item the light is removed. Thanks. -Dholt5

I may be wrong, but I think darkness is different from continuous darkness, which seems more like what you are suggesting.

Would be better if casting darkness on an item temporarily added a "black light", and since it count as a light (giving penaulties to hide), it should temporarily give +hide.

I'm not sure how feasible or desireable all that is. 8)

I like both the idea's, since we don't have 'continuous' darkness, darkness should be enough to counter it, because if some evil halfling casts continuous light on your new spanky full plate, having it glow forever is no fun at all.

I'll ask resident scripting guru's if it's an easy fix if they don't spot this and correct me straight away :)

Additionally on a slight tangent, there's the "darkness" effect, which sucks in light. It looks dodgy but is good in the right places. Though I'm not suggesting put it on items for bobanybody. Just bringing up the point that it exists :)

There is a problem with applying the Darkness spell to a person or item once it's cast on someone. Although it works fine, it's a hostile spell and any NPC caught in the -moving- AoE will go hostile on the caster. You could, of course, make the spell non-hostile.

EDIT: Concerning the continuous light spell, just apply a temporary light property to the item that lasts for 24 hours.

Smothering Darkness, Darkness, Dark Radious, Encompassing Darkness, and Perm Darkness all are spell verions of the basic, Darkness. Though Darkness is the only spell encripted in game. As far as a Light spell dispelling the Darkness thats correct. If though you want Darkness to not be dismissed or removed by the Light spell (as would be in the Underdark) replacing the script in spell for OnAttacked would be the only plausible solution. Possible? I dunno. It would for sure remove the hostile reaction as Cheshire pointed out, yet it would not remain constant. Duration would be an issue as either temp or perm-which as far as Im seeing, is not the desired result? ?

I don't think that was the idea.

There is a visual effect that sucks in light. It is not the same as Darkness spell VFX. I think it's one of the VFX that are applied when you cast Storm of Vengance, but don't quote me on that.
