It is kind of annoying for players to have to go see a PC to register as a magic user in Sanctuary, would it be possible to make a NPC that can do that without a DM possessing it?
NPC Spellcaster registration
Against it, because talking to players is much more interesting. DM possessed NPCs too >_>
It's a very boring process. Making it a PC just slows it down.
But, I believe there is a special reason why they want PCs to do this, and thus, I think it should remain as PC-to-PC only.
This is the stupidest task the Spellguard has. It should've been NPCized a long time ago.
This is the worst part of having a Spellguard Agent >_>
Ditch the whole stupid system IMO.
[edit] Do it in game.
LDO. [/edit]
I just never bother registering anymore.
:)
Seroiusly. It never comes up anyways, Nobody even knows about hte law unless agents jump on your ass about it.
Certainly having it done automatically would seem sensible.
I agree with Kotenku. Just get one IG through work and efforts.
Against this. THere is a reason why PC spellguards do it, because you gotta make em work for there cash.
It also gives a brand new player to the server a reason to interact with another PC, when they might otherwise be too intimidated to do so.
I'm thinking the reasoning for having a PC do it is so that they can post every caster's information on a private forum board. For the mass cataloging of every spellcaster who passes through the City. Creepy Spellguard deal, yeah. It can't be automated, because there isn't a system that allows posts to be put on the forums from in-game, or vice versa.
Ostensibly, it could be automated, if the forum-work part was dropped entirely. But that sort of eliminates the IC purpose of requiring the badges.
You can't get spellcasting school with scripts.
Just ignore them completely. The PC Spellguard will thankyou, and the DM Spellguard will never ask. Course they might now, but meh. Really its just a PITA thats best shrugged off.
It's also worth noting that there is nothing forcing you to register.
It's a minor crime to not be registered.
Not only is that a matter of interpretation, that only relates to a certain small part of the server. It is hardly a 'requirement'.
Wait.
People actually register?
