Open Letter to the Council from the Shadow Tribe

This is an open letter to the Council of Sanctuary by Ambassador Warlord Throx Claw.

Those of Old Sanctuary have bathed in luxury for so long that they have lost sight of who they are, and where they reside. Have you forgotten you reside in the Underdark, the most dangerous of all the lands? Just look at how lazy you have become. What commodities do you make on your own? You do not make your own food, you do not mine your own metals, and you live under the illusion that you can protect yourselves. For many months and years, the Shadow Tribe has fed you, clothed you, protected you, and have given you luxuries that you take for granted. In return, we have asked for small political powers to allow our Embassy to function optimally, and a statue to be erected in thanks. Your response to our requests have been attempted murder on our leader, Great Shadow Death.

If we leave, you will starve. Your economy will fail. Old Sanctuary will crumble, and be defenseless to the many slavers we have held back to protect you. You will fall to depths lower than that of those who reside beneath you.

We give you one last chance. New demands have been added to our list. Meet them all within a tenday, or the alliance is over. Old Sanctuary will die, and the Shadow Tribe will make progress with those who desire what gifts we offer. Until then, the defenses will halt. Slavers will be knocking at your gate.

Meet our demands quickly.

Ambassador Warlord Throx Claw The Shadow Tribe Embassy

The street you speak of moves in two directions. Do you not remember how we gifted you a land of bounty in Sslal'teesh? Have you forgotten how our trades with you allowed that land to flourish? It is not because you lost sight of your own neighbors, did that land get ruined. And now you come to us, as refugees with demands and violence. You demand we turn over the criminals who commit crimes on -your- soil, and we do so hand him over before you can blink. Only then are we blamed again for the crimes he, not -we- committed? There is no logic in this.

Where would you be without Sanctuary? You would fall slaves to the very persons you pretend to protect us from. You would fall to Duergar and to Drow and to Men bathed in brimstone not in shadow.

You will suffer without us, and we without you. So we can move towards that fate shouting insults at one another until we are both suffering, or instead we can pause. We can discover together what other options there may be.

You give us ten days to answer you. We give you ten to answer us.

-Ambassador Rook
