Recruiting Dwarves

I've been playing a dwarf since my arrival here on this server and I've had a lot of fun doing it. There have been a few consistent dwarf players that do a good job IMO. Adds some fun flavor the setting, and we definately seem to stand out in the crowd.

However, I notice that there seems to be a problem for the development of the Dwarf population. There just aren't many of them. It may seem like there are quite a few, but in reality there are only 4-5 that play consistently. And that may be enough for a faction, I don't know. But it doesn't seem like it, especially when you factor in different playing times and such.

One of the better Dwarf characters is played by Inquisitor. By persistant Tells and general harassment about helping to organize the Clan, I've learned that he is in the military, will be deployed soon and that yet another solid dwarf character won't be around as a result. ~ Good luck to you and I personally want to thank you for your service to your country ~

As you may have noticed IC, the Dwarves are trying to get organized and become a viable faction. This is a shameless plug to get a few more characters. It also creates more RP opportunities for and against the Clan.

Kudos to the player of Namli the dwarf. You've successfully created a completely believable and intensely reviled character. Great RP and addition to the Storyline of Sanctuary. Prick....

I'd like to challenge some of you better players that want a refreshing break from your main character. Players whose main characters don't really have any intereaction pro or con with the dwarvish element would probably be preferable.

Also, any vets that played dwarfs in the past and gravitated away for one reason or another would really add to this effort greatly. It'd be a nice addition to the flavor of the Clan. Gimball is the only remaining original member that is active, and it'd be sweet to have some of you guys back to bridge the gap to the Clan's origins.

IMO, we could use some interesting characters. There are no females at all. We could use a ranger/rogue/scout type, especially since Inquisitor's very capable character will be on hiatus for a while. A bard or bard multiclass and also a wizard/sorcerer type would be cool additions as well.

I'd be willing to play some additional dwarf characters, but is that kosher to play 2-3 characters that work together in the same faction? Opinions? Excuse my newbness if that's a dumb question.

We've plenty of warrior and warrior/priest builds, but if that's an appealing character to you then go for it.

Well, firstly, I thought that female dwarves were pretty darn rare...

Secondly, I think I could rustle up a wizard or sorc dwarf if you really need one, that specialises in elemental-protecting everyong, than using the flamethrower hands! Muahahah! Er...right.

Whats your time zone?

Not many gnomes either :P

Female Dwarves are just as common as Male Dwarves, their recent sighting in 1371 quickly dispelled the belief that Dwarves simply had sex with boulders to reproduce (A rare, exciting and very painful ritual never witnessed by non-dwarves).

That said, Playing a Dwarf is awesome, especially if you can find awesome players to join you. Those who are interested should read the Dwarves Deep Sourcebook as it has a lot of great information on Dwarves relating to the Faerun atmosphere. It'll really give you a feeling for the Dwarf race; Their history, personality, quirks, superstitions, relations to other races, religion, etc.

I imagine a few players in EfU have copies of the book (and might be playing Dwarves right now). Assuming they don't I also have a copy in Pdf. form that I could send to Gwyd so he can show it to other interested parties.

Organizing and running a faction can be really fun, and it's even better when a lot of characters are involved. However, we would really prefer that you, as a single player, not play multiple characters all in the same faction. Even the best players would run into all sorts of problems involving meta-knowledge, inability for their characters to ever ICly meet, potential item transfering, the possibility of having one of your characters avenging another one (always something to try to avoid), et cetera. Instead, you should focus your efforts on making your one character in the faction really come alive and have an impact on things -- it would be hard to put that kind of dedication into three characters at once.

I was just about to start making a Dwarf character. A siege-master, I was thinking. So, shoot me a random tell ingame to "BardicKnowItAll" I'll call you back, man.

Peace.

bardic, how can I send you a random tell to your username?

If I click on names that look dwarvish, they show the actual name.

Far easier if you PM me or talk to Craddoc IC.

Any players of dwarf characters that have actually been asked to join the Clan and have been given a key, send me a PM so I can help get you going and get you in on Clan communications.

Any players that have not been asked to join the Clan and given a key, interact with some of the established Clan members IC and develop a rapport with them.

/tp "BardicKnowItAll".

Just getting ready to stary a dwarf character scout rouge type for the incredibly selfish reason that I like the idea of getting on the ground floor of a new faction. Also was considering playing a female just because I'd never played a feamle character before. Those who saw me on IRC earlier tonight will know a little bit about the concept. All I will say here is that I think it will be quite interesting...

I have been intimidated from playing a dwarf because aside from the Tolkien representations of dwarves, they have always been a mystery to me, and I would hate to do dwarves any discredit through poor RP.

Can I get the PDF of that source book?

I would love a pdf of the source book as well.

There's lots of source information about dwarves adn about dwarven religion here on this site. Check the bottom few sections of the forums.

Not o be a spoil sport or anything but it is probably not best to associate EFU with distrubuting copies of commercially available material.

I would hate to see anything happen to EFU becuase a publisher decided to take it into their heads that pirated material was bieng distributed through it.

I understand this goes on but I believe we shouldn't post offers or requests for this kind of material on the EFU forums - take it offline and keep EFU safe from any kind of possible legal actions.

Cheers

I second that.
