There has always been a potential destination that was never put in for the lake beast. All it's food sources can be found, save one, mushrooms. I imagine the Blue Mushroom was going to be a location for this, but being so close to another already established destination was probably deemed redundant. So, I would suggest adding these mushrooms to the area outside the peaceful caverns, and thus allow Druids easier travel to this Druidic area.
Lake Beast Destination
This area is on dry land, not part of the lake. The lake it self is pretty far away, as both areas are more than two transits away from the lake, and going either way travelling to the lake takes quite a bit of walking. I would say this area is very nicely off the lake, therefor the creature would have no way to bring you there, unless it's some kind of catapult and we're assuming there is no rocks in the way of the shore and this vault. >.>
But if the Dms disagree with me, it would be nice to see.

Seemed to me like all the water out there might be connected to the lake somehow. Perhaps through an underground river?
The water/river in the area outside the caves is connected to the lake Via the deep stream, a winding stream which Is likely not deep enough for the beast to swim in. It's possible that the spring the peaceful caves originates from this water, but considering the way the water comes out (tiny holes) I doubt the beast nor people who are vomited out, would fit through. As for the area outside, I don't think personally The beast would have a way to get there.
It's the Dm's call, though!
I agree, geographically, it doesn't really make sense there.
