As born witness by hundreds of spectators, the Town Council of Sanctuary officially and peacefully transfered the authority of the Lower Canal Ward to Prince Rinaldo Montezzi. On this occasion he made a speech, presented here for the benefit of all who did not attend.

Prince Rinaldo Montezzi

I am Prince Rinaldo Montezzi. I will be ruling this district fairly and with honour: harsh to my enemies, generous to my loyal citizens and friends.

My intentions are very simple. I wish to bring trade and prosperity to a region that could benefit greatly from this. In the days to come, you will witness many exotic races coming to do trade.

Yes, there will be drow, kuo-toa, kobolds, duergar, and others.

But they shall obey the laws, they shall purchase our goods, and bring their own to be bought.

Additionally, ferriers will come, and allow for passage across the Dark Lake, conveniently from this very location.

This is a momentous time for all peoples who live here. We must decide if we are content to hide in poverty and shame, or if we will boldly forge a new way forward.

I tell you, I will not bear witness to the shame of the children born of the world above any longer. With my rule, and the aid and assistance of all who wish, I will see Port Montezzi become a true great port of the Lake

There are many rumors about me.

I have many enemies. Including the Spellguard, whose reputation precedes even my own. They will claim that there is a beast that will destroy ships. They will claim that I will murder and pillage.

They will claim that life will be impossible here.

I am a hard man, a harsh man. But I am an honorable man. I tell you now that I wish to see this district prosper. And prosper it shall.
