A letter left for Hestre Mofet in the pissing crone

*an extremely complicated, time sensitive cipher created and handed to the person in game is used. Word structures have no relation to the conventional language and even decoded, it translated to Mulhorandi. For all intents and purposes, it is extremely well coded. The letter iself is delivered by a messanger.*

14:80. Date + 1.

After considerable and careful analysis of everything you have said, the facts at hand and logical analysis it appears to be the case you were in fact, as you claimed the victim of a spell known as a "Death Gease". At risk to my own reputation I have contacted the council to attempt to negotiate you a pardon.

I am undergoing considerable risk and the interests of the Empire of Thay are also undergoing considerable risk by jeopardizing the friendly relations of the Sovereign Nation of Sanctuary. If even a word of what you have told me is found to be untrue, I will utterly abandon you. Pray you never return to the Empire of Thay or anywhere which is within the Empire's considerable grasp because the punishments you would receive there will be far, far harsher and much more enduring then what you will receive here. The Empire of Thay has the distinction of being the only nation in the world with a special prison where traitors to the state can be kept alive for extended periods of continuous torture in excess of six decades.

Assuming negotiations with the council is successful, when travel to the surface is eventually restored you will undergo careful screening by a master enchanter and a master diviner. With great care, and with no harm to you they will scan your mind and remove any knowledge you may have of the tieflings speech and manners at the time of the casting of the Death Gease, to bring us one step closer towards total destruction of the knowledge of this horrific spell.

If you leave a response, shift the cipher that you were given three increments to the right, down twice and move it left by two multiples of the time difference between when we met and the date on this letter.

Do not tell me where you are. Do not contact me in person. Doing so would compromise my legal status in this instance and force me to leave you to your own devices.

Below is a copy of the letter I have sent the councilor who I think will be most use in saving your innocence. I think it is VERY important you read it, thoroughly.

*the letter is received, HOWEVER: Something wholly unexpected occurs! While receiving the letter from the messenger, Hestre finds herself the victim of a dasterdly thief, as an imp swoops down from the ceiling and snatches the attachment letter!

The imp soars out through the door of the Crone, and Hestre shuffles along in hot pursuit, lifting her bright purple robes at the sides and cursing her horrid luck. As the imp makes its way down the dreary, godless Lower Sanctuary streets, Hestre continues to give chase, already rather out of breath. As both parties turn the corner into an alley in the west part of the lower city, Hestre finally finds herself out of sight of any visible bystanders or observers. She unleashes a devastating arrow of acid which strikes the imp squarely in the wing, sending it spiraling out of control and into a wall, where it promptly falls, twitching.

Hestre catches up to the imp, only to see it leap up and curse her out for the wicked acidic burns. She snaps her hand out and quickly snatches the letter back from the evil little outsider, who rakes her across the hand with its claws in retaliation. With a fierce, annoyed growl, Hestre unleashes a ray of frost into the tiny thief, finishing it's weakened form off and sending it crumpling to the ground, stiffened and frosty.

As she slumps tiredly with each weary step, she laments in her mind the curse of having a familiar with such unsavory friends. Why a Shining Light would ever keep company with a gang of greasy, no-good Devil teenagers is beyond her. The little light has even been wearing make-up and dressing more provocatively, and Hestre has heard that she's been seeing a Kyton boy over 40 years older than it. Unfortunately, there's only so much influence a wizard has on their familiars when they get to be that age. With a heavy-hearted sigh, Hestre admits to herself that all she can really do is try to be supportive of her familiar's attempts to find itself, and lead a better example of how to act appropriately.

Once she returns to the Crone and reads the letters, however, she begins to see that she really isn't the best one to be leading any examples for impressionable young Shining Lights. As such, after she is done with the letters, Hestre folds them neatly, tucks them away inside her pack with the rest of her belongings, and summons her familiar up to her room for an important "Do as I say, not as I do" lecture.

The Shining Light rolls its eyes and, 2 months later, reveals to Hestre that it's pregnant with a half-Kyton, and also addicted to Stinkweed oil.*
