Marshall Reynolds, The Last Stand

Marshall Reynolds,

Lord Archibald, in his infinite wisdom, has decided to use a small part of his vast personal fortune to fund your men. Should you agree and accomplish the terms outlined, each man in your service will be provided with armor fit for their status. Additionally, housing will be bought or otherwise provided as a station for your operations. The stipulations for such will be as follows:

1. A list is provided to Lord Alexander with a roster of no fewer then one dozen (12) men, whose character and reliability are unquestioned. Their defense to your ideals and loyalty to your orders must also be personally guaranteed.

2. Sometime shortly after providing the roster, a mission that will prove the ability and strength of your men as well as your own leadership will be given to you by the Lord himself. The majority of your total roster, or an otherwise adequate number, must be used to complete this dangerous task. Proof of success must be handed to the Lord upon its completion.

Should these two terms be met, your organization will have its funding. Nothing further would be required other then the hope that you accomplish the goals you've already outlined before us as a part of your charter. It is our belief that your ideals are good for the city as a whole and we do not plan interfere with any of the methods you choose to see them made into realities.

If you've any further questions, please do not hesitate to bring them to either myself or Lord Alexander. On a personal note, I plan to accompany you myself in the task the Lord will provide you as witness to your abilities. Please, don’t get us all killed, as that would put an end to what may be an extremely beneficial relationship. Best of luck, in your endeavors.

-Ambassador Rook

*edit bump*

Ambassador,

I find your Lords offer interesting. I will think it over as the terms he put forward are not yet met. If I decide to accept it, I will send to you a contract for your Lord to sign. The contract will contain the points you outlined, as well as one or two of my own: namely clearly stating that we will maintain our independence from House Archibald and that what was given to us was an act of charity.

I am interested in knowing more about this mission. I will be blunt: I will undertake no mission that would be considered illegal, a mission that I feel undermines the security of Sanctuary, nor will I undertake a mission that I feel only serves the ambition of House Archibald. I do not believe these conditions would prove troublesome for your Lord if what you write to me of his intentions are true.

As for your safety Ambassador, I promise you nothing. I promise my men nothing. Our work is dangerous and should you decide to accompany us on whatever mission your Lord puts before us, then it is at your own risk. You will be expected to fight, and yes, die if necessary right alongside my own men.

Respectfully signed, Kedrick Reynolds Grand Marshall of the Marching Men

Kendrick,

My friend, you need to relax more. Charity is exactly what we are talking about. Be thankful. Use it well. Our interests lay only in your prosperity. For over 150 years we have worked diligently to uphold the laws of this city. It is our hope that someday your grandchildren can say the same of your marching men. As for my swordsmanship, I think you'll be surprised to find it top notch. You can try to keep up.

-Rook

Ambassador,

Very well, so long as it is charity I will find myself inclined to accept the deal offered. However, you did not make mention of the mission by Alexander. If you can provide details I would much like to know so that I may begin preparing my men in advance.

Signed, Kedrick Reynolds Grand Marshall of the Marching Men

Ambassador,

I have not forgotten Alexander's offer. However, there have been additional offers made since we've last spoke. This has sadly delayed me somewhat as there are many different groups and individuals who seek to fund and support the Marching Men.

Although I have accepted no other offers, I would hope that this does not appear as a conflict of interest as I have considered your offer one of charity and no strings attached outside of those outlined.

Speak to Archibald on these matters and perhaps you and I can speak afterward.

Kedrick Reynolds Grand Marshall of the Marching Men

Kendrick,

As far as I know, the offer still stands. We'll need that roster though. As a side, I'm happy to have you and your men around as people I can trust when I get elected to council. Please meet with me when you can, there are some other important things we need to discuss.

-Ambassador Rook

Ambassador Rook,

I will seek you out.
