I've come up with a group idea that some of those people that belong to no faction with their PC's might like. A theives guild, (I haven't really seen one around, lately) which might help to spice things up a bit. Perhaps a group of shadowy figures, with some sticky fingers. Perhaps if there is enough support, then we might get to have a nice bit of fun with this.
The alignments aren't really that important but anything non-lawful would be expected, and so preffered. Anyone, though would be welcome to join. I often see rogues and sneaks on this server, and so there might be enough to help me pull this off.
I'm not sure if a base would be needed, but it would be nice to have a hideout that we could establish IG. Mostly, we would be off, trying to hunt down treasure, and things like that. Perhaps also as a mercenary guild as a front to cover it up. I guess it would just be kind of like a mercenary guild, as we would go on pretty much any scripted quest that sounds profitable. In doing so, even if we were in some one's house, we would scour the place, and find anything of worth or value.
Any suggestions, and as much support as possible would be greatl appreciaated, all of you EFU people.

There are thieves guilds around Sanctuary. Its just extremely hard to find them, because Sanctuary is a "No Tolerance." Often they rarely have any real organization or hideout.
If they are organized, then you have to make a name for yourself. If you do that, the organization will find you. I've always read that thieves guilds recruit and very actively. They just aren't going to choose their members all willy nilly like.
I support you in this, but also I would suggest making a name or yourself and being recruited.
Happy stealing!!

Uhm... is the topic title the name of the proposed group?
Because if it is, there was already a group named "The Sentinels". Trust me. ;)

I've always said the name should have been appropriated by bandits.

What is the point of calling a thieves group "sentinels", anyway?

Personally, I've always loved that word. It makes sense, if you want to have a front as a mercenary group. I mean, if it got strong enough, they could be hired as guards, for merchants and such. 8)

Ah well, if it is for the mercenary guild that will serve as facade and not the actual group of thieves, I guess it's okay.

People are more than welcome to name their groups anything they wish- Providing it's setting-compatible, and not an anachronism.
Sentinel is a fine enough name for a guild of stealth-focused types, as it generally refers to something/one that watches for stuff.

The name's already been used by a semi-dormant faction as had been said, but that's no reason not to go ahead and claim it anyway.
If nothing else, it's an instant rivalry which opens all sorts of fun opportunities.

That watches for stuff... not that steals it.
I just hope the name is not chosen because it sounds "cool".

I hope it is chosen to just to piss off the prior Sentinals and give them a bad name.
Now that would be funny.

Euh... Thanks? :)
Btw, I'm not saying he can't name his group like he wants... Naming a thieves group sentinels doesn't seem fine to me, but anyway he already precised it would be the name for the cover organization.
I can still give my opinion about stuff, right?

Well, it's not like I have to use the name, The Sentinels. Just thought it would be a name that could be used, but other name suggestions would be appreciated.

So... what? Should the name be like, the Thugs? The Stealers? :o

The Natives. You should wage war on the constant inflow of ex-slaves, mugging and murdering them to extinction, whilst popping out babies to fuel your revolution.

I just think sentinels doesn't sound right for a group of thieves, simply because the definition of sentinel has more to do with watching and guarding than with stealing. At least that's what I saw when I looked at the diccionary, and then of course I could be wrong.
There are plenty of other possibilities tough, (even if the last suggestions were awesome!). For example, you could try to build a group of Shadow Thieves of Amn, and in addition to the name, you would have some ideas about how your group should be, if you are looking for some. Anyway, I think it is better, as was suggested before, to give the name "Sentinels" to whatever mercenary group will serve as facade to deceive the public about your true intentions, but shouldn't the actual group have another name? Just my thoughts.

To be honest, I think people would be more likely to name their thieving guilds things like "The Assosciates", "The Little Men", things that make you have no idea who they are, than things like Shadow Thieves or Night Time Raiders of People's Houses. It's an IC action, it's not like they're telling people OOCly that their LG.
