Letter to Sergeant Timmons [DM]

Honorable Watch Sergeant Timmons,

As you likely already know Lieutenant Dorn Reynolds has asked me to look into the disappearance of Marshall Greer, leader of the band known as the Marching Men. He has notified me that you can assist me with some information.

I am requesting to know the date of Marshall Greer's disappearance. Additionally, I am requesting information on the Marching Men. I'd like to know who they were, what they stood for, and if there are any surviving members that can be questioned.

I thank you for your assistance. May Helm guide your blade in the defense of this city.

With honor and respect, Kedrick Reynolds

A reply is promptly delivered to the Last Stand by a fresh faced looking Deputy.

Mister Reynolds,

I took the liberty of filing through any of our records upon the subject, and turned up little. Much of the documentation from that period was lost or destroyed during the Ubel Rebellion, so our records are fragmented at best. I did manage to turn out the following reports, mostly from recommendations for the Lieutenant's induction into the Watch:

"Leader of the 'Marching Men,' a paramilitary force that he organized, composed of his trusted companions, to act on bounties put out by the Watch and Council. Apprehended the wanted traitor Derric Horn putting an end to the six year old bounty." -- Lieutenant Nemetsk, Mirtul 27, Year 101.

"Marshall Greer and three of his compatriots from his band of loyalists were involved in a running battle with some brigands in The Sanctuary Below who had kidnapped Councilor Indrensen upon Alturiak 15. After slaying two of their number, a bloody exchange occured after a band of Chosen from a nearby nest intervened in the melee. The battle was concluded after Sergeant Zarwyle and Saer Johan Mantle took their men to reinforce them. The werecreatures were driven away, and the brigands were slain. Councilor Indrensen was unharmed." --- Private Birwick, Alturiak 20, Year 100.

As for the matter of surviving members, I've been unable to fid any information in our records. It's possible that men of their caliber have found their way into the Watch, although it's unlikely any of them are still in active service. I'll have some Privates ask around.

- Sgt. Timmons

P.S No record of his dissapearance was filed.

[The letter is received and a short thank you note is sent back to Timmons via the Deputy.]
