Do dms modify character bios on request? I would like to make a slight change.
Character bios
Only if that slight change is to make it say
RP for info
Just kidding. Yes, they can do it, but it's NEVER for small things. Missing hands, gouged eyes, etc.. are about it. For minor things, you should just emote it out as necessary.
Garem to the best of my knowledge is right.
On a related note: I hate writing character biographies. I can never figure out what to say, and sometimes what I write becomes invalid after I actually get a chance to play the character. I often start with a concept in mind, but once my character gets involved in the game world I let it grow organically with the occasional nudge in one direction or another.
If someone wants to get a feel or closely examine my character I'd rather people just emote that they are doing it. That gives me the opportunity to describe it accurately as it is at that moment, not something I created weeks ago before I even attempted to play the character and may be invalid.
...that sounded like a whining rant. That wasn't the intent but oh well. I'll turn it into a suggestion: I encourage everyone who wants to examine another PC closely to emote it so that the other PC can describe themselves accurately!
Meldread,
Sometimes people are trying not to be noticed. They want to look at you, see what you look like in a general sense, without alerting you. This shouldn't require an emote. You don't have to give a count of how many hairs are on your head. Also, just a sentence or two is more than enough. What is good is...
General size/race
General Age
Hair color
Skin Color
Noticable equipment (big weapons, bow, portable ballista... whatever).
Strange physical characteristic (scar, dirtiness, cleanliness, etc.)
Of course, this is just my opinion.
Sorry for derailing so much OP!
We can, but it is a time consuming process on our part! As a result, we only do this to PCs participating in a plot, or to those who submit a small application.
I've always wanted to approach somebody without a description and ask, "what do you look like?"
One little trick I really like is, instead of actually writing a description in the box, put in a link to a Journal page or the like on the forums here. Put basic appearance and stuff on there, but major stuff can happen to a man once he enters Sanctuary. I once had a character get burned nearly beyond recognition by a... well, I don't think I can say that now, can I? ;) You get my drift.

((Off topic probably belonging in the suggestion thread)) Is there any way to have the BIO appear on EFUSL so that it can be viewed after character creation?
Put 'examine' onto one of your quickbars and use it on yourself

Dont know about this, but you can always export a copy of your character and then use LETO to view the description.
I'd highly recommend copying and pasting your bio into your IG journal though. Very useful to have around.
Ok... here is a question:
Once you have created your character, how can you access your bio?
I spent a lot of time writing up my bio... but did not save a copy on my local system. In looking into factions, I found I needed that information. And a friend could see it, but not copy and paste it for me. So how do I get access to what I wrote up on my character?
Thanks in advance.

As said above, you can put "Examine" onto one of your quickslots. Do this as if you would put a skill or combat skill on it, but look at "other actions" and you'll find the eye-icon of examine.

Right click on quickslot. Scroll down. Click. Scroll to the right. (The eye symbol) Click Click the quickslot. (The eye symbol) Click on yourself. Bam!
The thing is: Description or what you put at char generation -shouldnt- be your character's biography.
It should be the basic sensory information (audition, vision, smell, and motion) available to those who encounter you.
mine had both... a quick basic explaining of what you see... minus weapons and then below that with a divider my bio.
I felt that a small back story would be helpful as OOC info to others. To explain why he was in the Underdark. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ BTW thank you for the info below. It worked like a charm!

Different folks do things differently in the character descriptions. Personally, I like to keep my descriptions short (three paragraphs maximum) and give as good a physical description of the character I can in that space. Other stuff is all learnable through RP or journals, etc.
