Letter to the Council

My Councilors,

I have attempted to meet with a few of you, however my attempts have been unsuccessful. I realize that you are busy, so I shall keep my missive brief.

My name is Kedrick Reynolds. I am a former slave, soldier, engineer and most importantly: I am a Sanctuarian.

I am hereby writing this missive to inform you of the founding of the Sanctuary Legion. We are an organization dedicated to the prosperity and defense of Sanctuary. We are loyal to the vision of Charles Bresely and the democracy he established. We are loyal to the Council, first and foremost as our cities leaders, and we exist primarily to serve your interests.

We have not formally announced publicly the creation of the Legion, and before you heard about its formation through a third party I felt it most respectful to notify you in person. As I said, it was difficult to meet with you, so I hope this letter suffices.

The city has two primary defense organizations, but it is our belief that a private organization is required. The city has a limited amount of funding, and it is my belief that a successful organization should be able to exist on its own merits rather than through Council funding. We do not seek to replace either the Spellguard or the Watch, but we do seek to re-enforce their ranks with our men providing additional defense to our city in times of crisis. In peace time the Legion shall act on its own accord seeking to further the aims of the Council and other objectives related to ensuring the prosperity and defense of Sanctuary.

I do not know where you stand on many of the pressing issues that face our city. Therefore, allow this announcement to also be an invitation to get to know one another. I want to know how the Legion may best serve the Council's wishes.

If you wish to set up a meeting with me then I will make myself available to you. You will recognize me in town wearing a set of grey and blue plate armor, with a black beard and shaven head. I look forward to your questions and learning how I may best serve the Council.

With honor and respect, Kedrick Reynolds Grand Marshal of the Sanctuary Legion

Mister Kedrick,

Your force and the intentions of it intrigue me. Since my first week on the Council, I have fought within the Council for a force of military importance. Perhaps both of our desires can be achieved.

See me no later than the end of the day, please.

Chairman Dentra

[Chairman Dentra's letter is received.]

Honorable Chairman Dentra,

I have spoken with Lieutenant Dorn Reynolds and he has made a request of me. However, he has also brought to my attention an interesting bit of history.

Some time ago there once existed a band of fellows not unlike the band I am seeking to create. They were known as the Marching Men. As we've spoken on finding a new name for the organization, I felt this one might be appropriate. I will contact you once I learn more, but should we use this name we may be able to capitalize on the former band's popularity which could assist in recruitment.

I've requested more information on this band be given to me. Their former leader, Marshall Greer is said to have disappeared after a battle with Chosen. I've been asked to assist in locating him. Although I believe he is dead, finding information on his ultimate demise may prove to legitimatize the organization in the eyes of the people.

I am requesting your permission to enter into contact with Montezzi. Once I have the required information we may have to go through his domain in search of Greer and I do not want to cause further trouble for the Council or enflame hostilities.

I will request permission from Montezzi to move through his domain and enter into the Sewers to do battle with Chosen. With his permission this should allow those I recruit into the organization to move through his domain unmolested, and prevent a potential diplomatic nightmare.

With honor and respect, Kedrick Reynolds
