Alright... I'm a bit frustrated at the moment, so please, bare with me.
Some of us can't type fast. Please, don't rush on, spewing forth emote after emote, while we're struggling to reply to one.
Wait.
That is all, thank you.

As a slow typer, I agree.
Yep. I'm a horrible typer. It can be very frustrating! :x (this game has made me ten times better, though. :) )
Learn to type :(
I am an incredibly slow typer, but I have a tip for others like me. If you're in the middle of a big emote, you can always cut it off mid-sentence with a dash at the end, which tends to indicate that your character is being cut off as he or she speaks. People usually slow down, just as a subconscious thing, I've noticed, and if they don't, you've usually got enough of your point across anyway by the middle of your emote.
I'll second AKMatt's point, as I interact with him all the time, and I had no idea he was a slow typer...
And I am a fast as #@!*&! typer.
So because you can't run, everyone on earth should crawl?
Learn to type! :)
I not only type slow, I’m a poor speller too. I’m doomed!
The answer is simple. Stab them for interupting you, and wear their skin as a hat as a warning for the next person to attempt to do so.
As a fast typer, I can understand the sentiment.
Especially at times of "Getting on a roll" where a specific plot idea makes me giddy, or during a quest with alot of action and adrenaline, its easy to get caught off guard.
A suggestion for learning how to type a bit better, I would say type in the dark, if you are able be it from NWN to paper writing to general internetting. Turn off all the lights in/around your computer, and at most use the glow. When I was still but a two finger typing nub, this came about inadvertently while playing some covert videogames well past bedtime in my youth, and ended up being a great boon to learning the keyboard.
Hmm, I'm kind of with Oro on this one. >.> I'll just make my emotes longer and be even wordier (if that's even possible...).
On a somewhat related note, and this is something I'm very, very bad at but trying to get better with, is that I see myself and fellow players often talking as quickly and without ceasing as excited little children. Emote more. Listen to one side, then you'll have your turn. Hopefully, they'll listen to you the same way. We have a weird thing going on here that doesn't happen in RL where people must take lengthy pauses in conversation to hit enter. Just something that bothers me, and is why I don't like talking out in the streets very much because above the roar of conversation, there is always "that guy" that hears everything and joins three or four different conversations with something to say to each and every one, disrupting the flow of speech...
Just a thought.
Over the years, ironically, RPing has done far, far more to improve my typing speed than any keyboarding class has ever done, mainly because, in combat, you need to be able to type things like enter-shift-asterisk-d-o-d-g-e-s-shift-asterisk-enter VERY quickly.
Learn to type
I am afraid I concur. It is really not that hard. Do not look at your keyboard, just look at your chatbox. I don't even have to do that anymore, and neither, I think, do Oro or RWG. As a little added motivation to all of you hunt-and-peck newbies, I can now write entire e-mail while carrying on a full conversation with a real person, and looking them in the face. It's great for creeping out motorheads, let me tell you. ;)
But yes, so all of these little persons can keep up, slow down a bit. Just a little.
Maybe slow typers could try shorter phrases? Or how about a quickslot text entry along the lines of "Conan knits his brows in thought, moving his lips as if to speak"?
Mind you, no matter how quick you type I often end up typing TROLL!@@*% just too late as my companions are brutally slain by incoming hordes of regenerating hellspawn.
Short phrases can help you slower typers out there. However, if you play this game long enough you are sure to become faster! As a fast typer I often get caught between wondering if the slow typer on the other end is in the middle of saying something or just listening, I'll usually just keep typing until something comes up.

Ha, yea, I do that too. I delete a good ten to fifteen percent of what I type afterwards to respond appropriately. >.>
