[This link is best read listening to Wagner: Gotterdamerung. Act Three. The Funeral March]
Kingcod and I wanted to create something that was not going to resolve around an individual ego as a leader. Something that could appeal to all people as a concept, easily understood and yet something that is fitting for EFU and it's playing community.
"You will be the land, And the land will be you. If you fail, the land will perish; As you thrive, the land will blossom."
A quote from John Boorman's epic "Excalibur" based upon the Celtic belief of Kingship and the land being symbiotic. Don't worry i'm not advocating a cheesy King Arthur line but something based upon the themes. The film retains a sense of the inevitable tragic results. Something i'm sure we know that those who strive against the darkness of EFU are only too aware of.
So, think you; "Enough waffling Ellisandro, what on earth is the concept that you and that idle waster Kingcod have concocted?". Fear not dear friend all shall be revealed....
"All over the surface of Faerun one dark night a mote of light travels at incredible speeds touching upon the men and women that appear on it's list. The individuals in question are not seen in the morning, their goods untouched and left where they were...it's as if the person in question got out of bed and walked off in their bed clothes.
The men and women all in their early to late twenties and of good moral fibre touched by the light all had the same dream.
The air around you is cold. Though you are aware your body is being pulled upwards by some invisible force you cannot open your eyes....suddenly the your eyes open and you can see the clouds rushing past as you are bourne ever upwards like a comet.
It grows darker and the clouds pass, around you are a million pinpricks of light. Stars that blink and shimmer their immortality to you welcoming you as a brother to their world.
You are suspended in the air facing upwards to a golden light. A voice booms forth: "Renounce thy Wanton Ways! Take Up thy Sword and live by Honour and Glory. Seek out the Code. Look to the Seer and his auguries!". A land lies bleeding below. A land that needs lifeblood. You are that life blood and it lives and breathes as you do. Bring forth the blossoming of good and succor to those in need. Dark times enshroud these people. Search for the one that can lead them forth into redemption and the light. Bring them hope and a sense of purpose.
With a stomach turning speed you are pulled backwards from the light, glimpsing the head of a noble animal for half a heart beat as you descend, in a arc downward, ever downward from the sky until you are plunged into darkness. A howling wind fills your mind as you pass through caverns enmeasurable to man down to a sunless sea. Plunged into the water you cry out with the cold and suddenly awake, shivering, in the dark of a cave, with nothing but rags to wear and the memory of a lion's face.
So, i'm guessing we could run a prelude for you guys (or ask a DM to help if they aren't too busy) I'm hoping that we don't have to trouble the DM's too much as this concept is player driven (we won't argue if they want to throw in a couple of damsels in distress though). We have our very own seer to guide you folk :)
Can we gauge the interest please (if indeed there is any).
Paladins are the primary interest but will extend to others when we have our ranks numbering about 5 or 6.
PM KC and I if you have any further queries.
