To the Council

*a small letter sealed with wax, delivered by a beggar child to the town hall*

Council of Sanctuary.

In your laws there is this text.

The Aspirants Act wrote: Any individual non-malevolent being may approach the council and ask to be officially Welcomed into Sanctuary, despite their race, and be afforded the rights and privileges of all citizens of Sanctuary. The council will extend this Welcome in their prescribed manner of decision-making.

I do not particularily seek welcome in your city or your society. I am here to extend an offer of trade. I wish to meet with your members, and discuss terms so we might come to agreement between your council and my house. For this meeting to take place, I must be granted safe passage through your settlement.

I will give you time to deliberate on this, and send another letter with a name and address to respond to.

Councilors,

I trust you have been somewhat curious about my previous letter. I am Xullbryn, of the house Alean'ana, of Traensyr. I have come to initiate trade negotiations with your settlement, among other things. I wish to speak to your numbers in person, and ask for temporary passage into your city to do so, and leave peacefully. Leave a response at the "Pissing Crone" below you.

I find your lack of response disheartening, Councilors. I had not wished to do this, but I shall include what I wished to say, in part in this letter.

We have noticed your lack of trade, we have noticed your lack of allies. You are soon to come under attack by two separate forces. The shadow tribe maintains it's guise of 'friendship' with your settlement, yet they draw closer, fortifying their positions. They are coming for your city councilors, our scouts have confirmed this. The other foe I write of, is the Beholders of Chabzash. They are gathering strength, soon to set out in an assault.

It is in the best interests of all that we co-operate. Send me a response with when we can meet.

Xullbryn of House Alean'ana,

Your impatience is equally disheartening.

We have never in the past dealt with drow in this manner. There is no precedent for this sort of dealing. In fact, the usual treatment is a bit more severe. That being said, regardless of the Council decision, I'll see to it that an ambassador as yourself is at minimum given free leave of the city should your request be denied. This is not to imply that it shall, merely a warning of one possible outcome. The other outcome will be a meeting, arranged as requested. Please wait until further notification.

Chairman Dentra

Time grows short, Councilors. Your enemies within and those outside your settlement become more apparent each cycle. Your inner conflict does not concern us in the slightest. Your greatest concern should be the external threats you will soon be overwhelmed by; The shadow tribe, the Beholders. Trade is not the only thing we offer, councilors. We grow tired of waiting to hear from you.If you do not respond with a meeting in two cycle's time, we will consider our offer forfeit and we will leave you to be destroyed.
