Disguise Mode

I would like to see a /c disguise on/off for monstrous races.

Currently there is no way for NPCs to know if you are in disguise and therefore hostile you and kill you on sight. For some races it would be easier, but for kobolds and goblins and such, it would need to shift them back to the halfling model so the armor would actually shoow nd disguise what they are.I dont think this would take too much effort to implement, and would increase RP opportunities tenfold.

This isn't going to happen. If you really must travel in civilized areas, find a DM.

For some races, it does not really make sense they hostile you anyway, at times.

Drow for instance. A helmed drow loooks like an elf. NPCS do not hostile elves. While it is true helmed elves are supposed to be considered drow, in the UD. Which is something I rarely see on EFU anyways. Helmed elves walk around the city all the time without being harassed in the slightest.

Something needs to change here. I think the NPC autohostile is a showstopper for RP interaction. If these races could disguise themselves and go to upper/new dunwarren and such, PCs would have the chance to confront them, conspire against them, and what have you.

While yes, it is true nothing stops you from going to lower, and interacting there, the main question I need to ask, is why? You're being shunted away by a script, not an NPC. If it was a DM posessed NPC that went after you and taught you not to mess with sanctuary, it would be completely different. At least then there would be some sort of interaction. What we have is a floodgate of uncoolness and NPCS Metagaming off our character sheets.

In short, if we are in disguise, we should be able to have the NPCS recognize that, without a DM needed. It makes sense, and opens up a whole bunch of new avenues for other PC's to sleuth you out. This also gives the DM's more time to oversee cooler stuff, rather than watch you go to upper to talk to Random PC 1.

SilkenEnigma It makes sense, and opens up a whole bunch of new avenues for other PC's to sleuth you out.

And if or when they do, you meta-gamed yourself into a position where the paladin (or who ever) that finds a disguised drow can't openly kill them due to NPC mechanics.

I have to agree with silken, although since a DM openly opposes it, Its not likely to happen

Let the PC's handle this stuff. You just kill RP with the auto-hostile.

When applying for a monster race it is usually taken with a grain of salt that you cannot interact with portions of the server, usually on pain of death.

It is however, in no shape or form a hinder to interaction based upon the fact you cannot go to upper, so long as you have people who can go up there for you. Having played a monster race now, and in the past had some, there are ways to get around the system.

If you are willing to risk it, High stealth or Invisibility can get you navigated around, and the NPCs will not hostile you, granted you would likely need a DM as mentioned above.

Also a key thing to bring up, Drow do -not- look like elves when fully clothed/helmed. They are stockier and shorter than your average elf, as well as there is ample helmed elf harassment, having played one just the other day, who was stopped numerous times by PC law enforcement. Just because you don't see something does not mean it doesn't occur.

That being said, there are always IC ways to subvert that via becoming a citizen, or simply finding ways to interact with PCs beyond Sanctuary. While it is a fair portion, Upper is -not- all of the server, and New Dunwarren is for the better sake of the place, "Hibernating".

Drow are loathed. Drow should revel in their loathing, and wandering into some stank filled hovel of slaves to speak with one should be low on the priority list.

There's some credence to the idea of disguises, but as said time and again, Sadly NWN is just not set up for disguises. Even if you were fully clothed, in a helm, and allowed to walk the streets, there's always that M word that gets tossed about.

Miktek?

Metagame.

Please, Dudebros?

I am against this. Ugh.

Once the player base gets the scent of PC drow-blood, every helm-wearing elf gets harassed heavily, I assure you.

I dare someone to go up to Captain Othur and rudely tell him to take of his helm. That little test will end with a good dash of LOL.

Othur would use his super drow powers against them.

I'm going to crush everyone's hopes here and now, before it becomes worse.

It's not going to happen, sorry. This thread is locked. Go discuss something else.
