All right, help a non-tech fella out.
I bought NWN2 about a year and a half ago, and have never played it because my video card can't handle it.
When I went to an electronic store, they asked me which of two kinds of video cards my computer used. I had no idea. Went home to figure out what kind it was, and have not been able to find it in the informational tabs and such.
Any help appreciated.

Graphics cards are either going to use AGP or PCI-Express ports. Video cards these days are always going to be PCI-Express. Some older motherboards use AGP. It will usually say near your video card port what kind it is.

*points up* What was said. If you don't want to start opening up your computer case to figure out which one you have, you can use a program like Everest to check it out.
You've most likely got an AGP card though if your video card isn't able to handle NWN2, seeing as PCI-e is a relatively new technology.

Try this
http://www.systemrequirementslab.com
Gives your whole PC the red or green light to run a game.
Its a website so no download needed I suspect.

On this same note, I too got nwn2 about a year and a half ago and have never been able to play it. My problem is that I don't have an AGP slot or a PCI-E, all I have is a standard PCI. Anyone know of a way around this without buying a new computer?
It's a dell as well, so upgrading the motherboard is impossible.

Well, I did a quick search and found some 256mb PCI graphics cards (which should be enough to run NWN if it was an AGP or PCI-e card), but I have no idea of whether a card like that will run NWN2. PCI port might just be too slow for this stuff, no questions asked. I'm no expert on hardware matters though, so don't quote me on this.
Anyway, the card's manufacturer is Matrox. And the card's expensive as heck. It's probably made for some special use which I'm not aware of. Here's a link anyway.
So, to finally answer your question. As far as I'm concerned, it's very very unlikely that you'll be able to run NWN2 without having an AGP or PCI-e graphics card.

NWN2 is a beast. The system requirements are much too high for it, and in the end, it doesn't even end up looking all that good.
