Inventory loss (The Arkov)

This issue likely has more to do with me then the server but since Howland is so nice here goes-

I die fighting cave dwelling gypsies of questionable hygenic practices in the "@caves" and a dm brings me back. I collect my belongings and I and a few others leave. I enter town and try to buy some darts from the elderly widower and (I assume this) my connection drops. When this happens it's generally for at least 10 seconds so I assume I have a bad connection and am about to get booted or the server has crashed. Anyway I exit from nwn, check if the server is up (usually is) and log back in. Screen loads to the market and my character is standing there naked. I check my inventory and its empty except for my gold and my pvp tool and character token. Howland ports me to the Mausoleum and my packs there with my chainmail and a ring, missing a wide assortment of other belongings.

Just on the off chance that this isn't a problem on my side I thought I'd say something. Any hypothesis would be appreciated, and I'm sorry I couldn't provide more information.

Also, the computer is running on a high spd conn so why do I get this period of "oh my god the rats are eating my flesh and I can't run away" as if I was using a dial up?

-if it matters I may have been booted with the message "timed out" rather than logging on my own. my inventory screen may have been open but I wasn't transferring items out at the time...let alone my entire inventory.. or why some of it ended up in the Mausoleum.. >_>

This is puzzling.

Perhaps you might still be marked as "Dead" by the server? A character of mine had the same problem in the past.

Here's what (probably) happens:

The server marks you dead, as your NPC body is still around. This happens when you relog while your body is on the ground, and you got brought back by whatever reason, without getting a raise/respawn. (IE. Including the bug where you get so much damage, that you don't "fugue die" but just stand there, nekkit, looking down at your NPC corpse.)

Way to fix this: Trash your NPC image in a desposal.

Oh, make sure to tell a DM you're trashing your body. We ain't wantin' no troubles, now do we?

Please don't do that, because it doesn't fix anything at all, causes even more issues, and actually shouldn't be possible. The only way to fix that is to contact a DM and have them port you to the Fugue plane as soon as your NPC corpse drops. Trust me, in the long run, you will prefer having done so.

Still not sure what caused this. Has anybody else has similar issues?

Yes. Happened a while back to me, when Praetorius was a n00b to Sanctuary. Was playing, nothing noteworthy happened. I then logged back in after having some dinner, and I spawn completely naked and with only PvP tool and character stone.

Oh yeh and happened once after on another character, only level 2, with no DMs on to help like with Praet, so I canned him. Except that time, I logged naked with the PvP tool, character stone and some random shit, like a torch and one of my amulets or something similar. If that helps.

I actually had a similar situation happen doing the Orgre/Canal quest in lower. My team and I went in to a hut and I got killed, but my body sprang right back up to life (minus my pack on the ground) but with only a few hit points.

Not sure really what happened, I ran out of the hut and just stood there while my teammates fought inside teh hut.

A few seconds later, Metro ports me to the fugue saying "be glad I caught that otherwise you'd have spawned in the mausoleum with your stuff gone for good"

The only other oddity about our playing was that (at the time) you couldn't add any other players to the quest. Howland (I believe) ported the others who joined the party into the quest.

Don't know if that had anything to do with my 'bug' but yes I have had a similar experience.

I suspect this is another aspect of the major issue that Howland bug-reported.
