Ogre bandit AI is somehow able to spot invisible people. I got into the windy cavern, was already invisible and there was a bandit by the waterfall, he killed a dragazhar and then went all the way around while being attacked by a Nyth and then across the bridge, swinging for my character. This guy is a bruiser, with extra speed, so the spot invisible bug maybe outta be worked out for this maniac.
Bandits!
If anybody else experiences this, and not just the regular "I drank one invis potion and it kept attacking," but cases of NPCs actually ignoring invisibility, we would very much like to know!
This has happened to me before- I was a Kobold druid under invisibile and the Animatrons in the brewery secret area spotted me regardless. I will vouch that they Did NOT see me before I was invisible.
Same happened with me and Watch privates in the canal.
The ogre may/maynot have drank his see invisibility potion, sometimes they decide to drink the potions.
Correct, Relinquish, but not long ago I witnessed an inexplicable case of NPCs effectively disregarding invisibility completely.
Just a stab in the dark here, is the AI scripted to hear you?
I know you need to make Move silently checks when sneaking by the npcs in town, while invis, and the checks are visible.
Could these checks be being made without notifying the player, and the player is just losing? I've passed all kinds of things while invist only to have them take a swing at me when I ran by them.
It would sort of explain this.
I've had that exact ogre do the same to me. Oddly though, he didn't appear to have a good bead on me. He'd start running after me for a round, then stop. Then come again and seem to lose me again.
Also, on the same map, Windy Caverns, Orog Trackers. They almost always seem to get at least one, generally two pot shots off on me while I'm invisible.
Used a wand (Invisibility) on Quagoths. Everything seemed alright untill I tried to move between a group of 4 of them and they all attacked.
Lots of spawns have just ignored my invisibility outright. I called it the permanent target bug, where they would remain locked on to you, period. I had it happen to my Seeker all the time (about once every 3 potions), thankfully, in most normal cases having a good stealth still works in conjunction with invis to save you. Sometimes it doesn't.
However, recently I had another occurance of this. I was in the Lower way, around a spawn of five hook horrors slightly scattered around the bend. So when I first engaged them only two of the five locked on. Having forgotten a level 3 should fight hook horrors, I ran, those two chased me. Now, while running, I downed an invisibility potion. One of the two horrors stopped chasing me, the other did not.
I then ran back around and past the other three that hadn't seen me. I intended to stay a good distance away from them, having not wanted to chance them "hearing me". Soon as I rounded the corner, one of the horrors charged. So now I have two of them chasing my invisible character. I get a bit further, stealth- and both of the hook horrors stopped.
Then almost immediately, one of them started at me again. It was more like it was running and stopping in rapid succession, like it couldn't un-target me, and it was trying to. So I just walk away, go a few screens, don't see it. Rest in the wilds. Look through my pack for a moment, and then Boom!, it just runs out of a transition at me. I killed it that time. But still, I found it really strange.
Same thing happened to me too. Was in the Dark Caves QA, when there was a black dragon wyrmling. I'm not sure if they can see invis, but that's what happened. :?
Wyrmlings have true seeing.
