Letter to Mithril Souls

Dwarves,

You conspired against me, banded together into a great mob, and attacked my realm. You were defeated. Without exception every member of your clan was offered life and freedom if they would but bend the knee, and swear not to battle against my House. Most of them chose death.

One of your female dwarves was released, on her word that she would seek to prevent your warlike people from attacking me again.

Now is the time for an end to this war. If you will but accept the following terms, I will command my House to treat your clan with respect and dignity and raise no hand against you:

That you shall obey my laws while within my realm, and not spit at or disrespect the House.

That you shall not plot and conspire my doom.

That you acknowledge that you have been defeated.

The dwarf Banjo who killed your kinsman was found in my realm and turned over to the Watch. It was not my will that he did what he did. I did not seek war with you then, and I do not seek futher war with you now.

Prince Montezzi~

As one o' the few survivors o' that battle I feel it be me duty to respond. Twas my understanding that I was released on the condition that our respective groups were to "live and let live".

As I said then, I will do me best to convince what kin remain in Sanctuary to not seek the retribution they feel is theirs to be claimed. Tis the nature o' dwarves to seek eye fer an eye. We are not a warlike group. Our passions and our loyalty to kin run deep as the stone, and are easily roused.

Tis well known that we suffered greatly in battle. There is no place in Sanctuary that hasna heard.

All I desire for me clan is to be left in peace. Twas misunderstandin and harsh words that led to the events o' that day.

If ye be a man o' yer word, ye will accept me word as well. I will suggest that ye tell yer associates o' the bargain that we made. Already since that dark I have rescued kin new to Sanctuary that were being cornered an' harassed while tryin to make their way through Lower. I expect that ye will be givin a different accountin of what happened were ye to ask. I canna help that. I only know what I saw and heard, and I give ye an honest accountin of it.

There be one last matter that needs to be seen to. A man of yer group is offering one o' our artifacts for sale. Twill do nay good to any other than a dwarf. Tis a mithril hammer that was given to our clan as a gift. I would ask if it could be returned to us so that it can be put in a place o' honor in our Hall in remembrance o' our kin that now reside with Moradin.

Faenor Moignar Nufgen Mithrilsouls

Dwarf,

These terms are acceptable for now. Any dwarves who have been harassed within my realm by my guards are encouraged to send an account of the actions taken against them to myself for careful review.

I do not know who possesses the hammer-relic you seek, but I will seek it out.
