Agent Jacob Noble

A letter is handed quickly to Agent Miller at the door by a dwarven woman of middle-aged appearance, and she leaves without a word.

Agent Noble,

Your newletter intrigues me, particularly the spirit in which it is written. Assuming you have genuine intent to improve relations and become more transparent, I've a few questions for you.

Why is the Order or indvidual agents actively aiding the Montezzis?

What is the Order doing to protect the citizens of Sanctuary who are being targeted for assassination?

Finally, I wish to report a murder that has already been reported to the Watch:

A dwarf, now known to our people as Banjo Kinslayer, was hired by the goblin Ghyrrt. The goblin is a known minion of House Montezzi. An ambassador of our ally heard the commotion, and followed the murderer to the Montezzi fortress under invisibility.

Enclosed is the written testimony of the witness to the crime. He also overheard the murderer receive payment for the job immediately after the murder occurred:

Some crazed kin, or possibly a foul Duergar as he was helmed and covered, attacked the area today. He slayed Krovus, though I managed to fend him off.

After laying down our kinsman Krovus, I followed these two into the Lower Ward under guise of invisibility. There I did see the halforc speak with a dwarf, before a goblin came out of that Montezzi fortress. They were speaking about payment for a job. I'll leave the rest to you, kinsmen.

The orcblood has green skin, blue and black armour and cloak. Fights with a shield and a morningstar.

The tainted kinsman who aided him has an eyepatch, is bald, and wears dark armour and employs a heavy shield and axe in combat.

The goblin uses a warhammer, and works with the Montezzi scum. Seems to be the ringleader.

- Ambassador Ironbark, Khazlun Holdfast

Agent, we are an honorable people, and above all, a lawful one. We trust that you and the Watch will handle this, as your purpose to protect the citizens of Sanctuary is the primary reason for your existence, is it not?

Faenor Breena Watchever Elder of Clan Mithrilsoul Dunendar Hall, Canal Ward Citizen of Sanctuary

The perception exists among politicians that publicly acknowledging the sovereignty of the Montezzi House in Lower Sanctuary is politically unwise. It does not help that people have been circulating fliers containing misinformation about them, unduly heightening public outrage whether inadvertent or not.

No Agents have been actively aiding the Montezzis to my knowledge. I did recite a poem about the life of Kharnum Throm at his funeral at the same time a prostitute was burned at the pyre. The poem was generally well received. As for the burning of innocent people, it would have happened with or without my presence. I would rather be there than not, so I attended, participated, and made no effort to hide my identity. If the sight and smell of burning whore bothered me, I would lie about it. In the Spellguard, you sometimes see or hear of things you do not necessarily agree with, that you cannot act upon at that very moment, not out of cowardice or fear of suffering consequences for doing the right thing, but practicality. The best you can do is acknowledge the hypocrisy while others denounce your name. Compared to some of the other things that I have encountered in my life, that was downright tame.

If you want my friendly advice, I would persuade Rinaldo to extradite Banjo should he find him in his claimed territory (he would probably send you his body). I would come up with a sincere apology for threatening war, because my friends and I are ill prepared for such and I am not close enough with other organizations to gather their help just yet. I would not pursue the Ghyrtt issue, not because it's not a valid issue, but because it's wise to say the evidence of his involvement with Banjo is tenuous at best. I would then work closely with the Watch, find out what they intend to do, and help them with whatever they are doing. The reason you are having trouble with the Montezzis all of the sudden is because your group is isolated and from the outset unwilling to work with others when it would benefit everyone to do so, much like the Hoarans and the Seekers. I'm not saying this is right, but they see your group as easy to pick on.

I'd like to hear what you intend to do about them, though.
