A note left for the Seekers

Seekers,

The purpose of this letter is to formerly request admittance into Seeker organisation. So far I have spoken with one, though he had deep thoughts and troubles on his mind, too great to hear my words.

I see the Seekers as an as of yet, uncorrupted force in the darkness, striving to find the Way, fighting the injustices and tyranny that has grown rampant in this fell and ghastly place, while simultaneously providing advanced warning of potential threats to the lives of the people here.

I greatly wish to lend my aid during this uncertain period of transition and work to keep the works, dreams and spirit of Ivlysar alive, taking in his example.

Although the Seekers have officially adopted a neutral stance to the bloodshed down below, I believe this to be simply a claim to appease the ineffectual and indifferent Council of Upper Sanctuary.

Blood runs red and thick in the streets, the haunting echo of three decades past. I would see it ended, and Dhogur's reincarnation put to rest.

I can be reached in the Sewers

~Mourn

*A quickly written sealed letter containing the official seal of the Seekers is left in response*

Mourn,

I thank you for your letter and have inquired about you and your background with some other Seekers. I have heard nothing back as of yet, however many of our Seekers are not back from operations within the Underdark. In our past conversation, I relayed that I would be inquiring about you and have provided you with ways in which you could show your worth to this organization. I have yet to see any of it.

As for the Seekers and House Montezzi…The Seekers have never adopted a “neutral stance to the bloodshed down below.” The Seekers were the only Sanctuary defense organization to actively resist these vicious curs, and were responsible for felling a few of them. The Seekers in turn, have lost many honorable and dedicated scouts as a result. We continue to openly and covertly work to see their complete and utter destruction. I find your words and assumptions disrespectful and haphazardly placed.

As I work to inquire about who you are and how you may fit into our organization, I would relay to you again that action speaks volume about one’s character. If you are an elven kin of calculated action and of sound judgment, you can expect a position within our ranks.

Till then,

Airandir

Airandir,

I apologise for my wording, it had been my assumption that the Seekers had withdrawn from the conflict to recover after suffering great losses in the attempt to eliminate the Montezzi's cruel despotism.

As for the information I have gathered, I have seen, heard and been retold what follows:

  • The halfling singer Sugrin is attempting to join the Watch, and has sought recommendations, telling the previously unknown names of his past criminal associates to an Agent in the Spellguard.

  • The same Agent has been seen observing the activities of Luther Hornraven.

  • Spellguard Agents have been seen on numerous occasions acting on friendly terms with the Montezzi. A man believed to be an Agent said his good-byes at the recent Montezzi funeral.

  • The Montezzi fed the blood of Luther Hornraven to an infernal creature when they took him captive in their fortress. I believe the reason Montezzi refuses to call himself "King", instead prefering the title "Prince", is because he considers this creature, or the devil/demon this creature serves, as the "King".

  • The Montezzi recently murdered a man of the Sewers when they successfully captured Luther Hornraven.

Mourn,

You have done well this dark. As you can see, these cur are the most vile of sorts. Your information will be matched up against what was previous reported and scrutinized by our organization for the formulization of strategic plans. Continue your sound intelligence collections against House Montezzi and identify that Spellguard agent.

You have done well through your actions. Come see me when you have a moment so that we may continue that conversation we briefly had before.

Airandir

Airandir,

Today an attempt on my life was made. A human male, dressed in black and white, assaulted me with negative energy when I was travelling through the ruins of Lower Sanctuary. Unfortunately for my would be killer, my companions arrived soon after the attack, and together we struck him down into the dirt. On his person we found the citizen stone of a "Kyle Fox", and badge with the phrase "Zombies are people too". When pressed, he answered no questions about who had sent him, and begged for death. My Tyrran human companion was quick to take him up on the offer, and ended him.

I believe he was sent by the Montezzi.

~Mourn

Mourn,

It would seem that we have leaks within our network of allies. If you feel that the attack was sponsored by Montezzi, I recommend withdrawing from lower. We will task other assets with your collection efforts. We will discuss this more in person when I see you about upper.

Airandir

Airandir,

The Agent who spoke poetry at the funeral and was seen having friendly relations with the Montezzi was Agent Jacob Noble, and possibly one other that I need to confirm with my associates. The infernal creature described by Luther Hornraven was a sentient mirror that was fed a goblin, and then commanded Montezzi to feed it more. It wished holy blood, and so they cut open Hornraven's arm and drained some of his essence for the mirror to consume.

There is no doubt in my mind this is a being from the Lower Planes, and the servant to the force behind the Montezzi, or the force itself. I will meditate more on the nature of this creature in the future, for now I must analyse Sewer Town's defences, and work to secure it whilst it is acting as a base for rebellion against the infernal tyrants. If you know of anyone willing to temporarily part with portable siege equipment and ammunition, explosives, metal grates, and devices with strong dweomers, refer them to me immediately. Currently I am taking objective surveys of the surrounding terrain.
