The Legacy of the Dead

[Posted prominently in all sections of Sanctuary]

Death is a part of life, never something to be feared for it is simply another trail in the journey of our being. Men are made to live life, serve in their elected duties, live long, and eventually pass into the beyond with honor.

Most men in the Underdark will never live life how the Gods intended. This is not the way our Lord of the Dead deemed life to be lived. Men try however.

We live in a world where men are taken to the beyond before it is their time. Their lives a tortured place where they see all manners of abominations and insults to the Gods. Men are killed and murdered everyday. This is not Kelemvor's wish. Any man would see this is not right.

So a man must ask himself, is this proper? Is this according to the law of man? The Gods? What can be done?

A man will begin to think, is to take another life to end the flow of blood from many worth it? Is this still a crime? Will I not be like those I am sworn to fight? If there is no justice or messenger to deliver these brigands to be judged before Kelemvor, must I become this messenger?

A man must never be told or commanded how to act. He must review the truths of life and death and make the decision how he sees best. I hold my own opinions and they will continue to be held to me until they are asked. I tell no man what to do. But one must ask himself these questions lest he wish to remain blissfully ignorant.

As there is a time for a man to die, there is a time for everything in life. There is a time for action, and a time for patience. If you come to the conclusion you were meant to, then you will know the time that may describe your Legacy in life and death.
