Dear Councilor,
I am sending you this letter in regard to the defense of Sanctuary. Let me introduce myself. My name is Christov Bragdor. On the surface I was a Commander of the Royal Reserve Guard for my section of the region. Although not nearly as large as the city of Sanctuary, we were much more prepared for a enemy threat. The Watch , from my observations, has proven its self only a threat to the domestic crime in the city. The Spellgaurd has some very useful and powerful tools at their command. I feel that they are however not using them to their full potential. When ever I bring up the topic of a well formed and maintained military fighting force to the citizens. They are under the impression they are protected by the Animatrons. The Animatrons are a very useful tool but can not be relied on completely. There are no warning systems , or buffer zones in place to rally the full power of the city in case of need. If a Army of Drow were to attack the city while you read this very letter, we would have no way of knowing until they were knocking on the gates.
I propose to you that their be many forward operation posts for the sole purpose of intelligence gathering and scouting missions for the defense of the city. It also allows adventurers or incoming refugees a place to stop and receive very needed aid and direction. There should be a flame atop every out post that is kept burning at all times. If blue crystal powder is thrown in and the flame turns to blue, there is a direct and hostile threat approaching the city. If the blue flame is burning it will trigger, with the Spellguards help, Orbs to glow intensely to warn the citizens of the coming threat and inform the Watch and Spellgaurd to ready themselves for battle. If the flame glows red , that outpost is in need of assistance but requires no alert of the city. The two neighboring outposts will send parties to inspect the trouble. My plans also incorporate the training , maintenance and armament of two capable fighting forces for offensive and defensive operations.
Their would be a small fighting force for the scouting efforts which would incorporate near to One Hundred men and women. Separating themselves amongst Five outposts. The main intercepting force would be stationed near the main gates. This force would be near to the size of the first. I have a full break down of this fighting force that I can give to you at your request. I wish this militarized unit to be named how ever you see fit. I do wish to be a Commander of sorts. But I do not by any means wish to be solely in charge. That is foolish.. I request that they're be three individuals given command of this unit with the Council as the ultimate decision makers. If you wish to speak more to me I will be at the Last Stand where I make my home. I will be sending a letter to the council as a whole describing this in short and request a meeting to fully elaborate. Good Dark
