Response to Deity Special items

(from coldburn) Making Clerics more powerful is a bad idea, and in many occasions isn't well liked. Like I have said on previous occasions: They're freaking powerhouses, do not make them stronger! Besides, the skills you noted: Freedom of Freaking Movement? Why don't we just give Velsharoonites Create Greater Undead, so they can summon level 18 Liches, if we're on that tour .

1) For one these are not cleric only items, they're related to the deity so a normal follower would have access to it (unless it was chosen by design to only work for clerics, druids or paladins for example)

2) They're d.m given by design so they only get to people who deserve them. (and hence very rare)

3) You're being ridiculous suggesting completely insane powers for these items, I went to great pains to assure they werent overpowered spells I chose (even in the level 3 and 4 spells)

4) Freedom of movement is a strong ability in particular situations but remember you're coming from a game that has RINGS OF FREE ACTION on loot tables (albeit on different servers) Not to mention that you can SET the level and duration of the effect to make it balanced.

5) Since they're deity specific they only work for that deity's worshippers.

(thrawn) I've actually added a lot of religious items into my loot vault recently. I'm not a fan of 1/day spell items, just due to how powerful that really is, especially with level 3 and 4 spells.
Yeah 1 per day items can be overpowered depending on the ability though they're less powerful that granting extra slots to casters (which are open to any spell you want to put in it) ((e.g. A ring of acid splash 1 per day is less powerful than a bonus level 0 slot for wizard ring (except for the use magic device ability of bards/rogues/assassins where the former is more useful for them) it also depends what classes can apply the ring normally.))
However here are some comments: I've been adding items specific to a great number of gods. So that should sort of cover this, even though it isn't exact.
Yep fair enough , I throw these suggestions out there, theres no obligations to do any of them and I know my suggestions do require a lot of effort in general.

Making items check the diety field isn't trivial at all. Basically, that list of items you just gave either requires a special script for each item, or requires us to give them all the same tag, and then set local variables on the items to make them work. (It is worth noting that merchants wipe all variables, so if stuff is allowed to be bought and sold to merchants, they would break.) A third option would be changing a lot of base item code. Moral of the story is these would be a lot of work for little benefit no matter which direction we took. We instead do a lot of class and alignment restrictions on religious items. Much more workable within the system.
Yep.. enough said.. too hard move on :)

p.s. I apologise for re-opening this as a comment thread in the suggestion box but the thread was closed before I had the chance to even respond to the comments.
