I'm bored at work, thought i'd drop this observation in the off topic area. Seems like alot of people are taking a break of late. I've only been here since about December so maybe this happens every spring. Perhaps others who have been here longer can comment on that point.

So long as my basement fortress is well stocked with baconators and delicious mountain dew, I will NEVER be taking a break.

At least 1 person a week quits, and 1 person a week takes a break for whatever reason.
At least half the people that quit end up returning.

Well, yes. It's finals period for a lot of us, which is crazy and hectic and downright lame. When summer starts, a lot of folks will be back, or gone for long stretches while going on vacation, studying abroad, schooling, etc..
Hey, I'm sort of a 'well it depends on what goes on, so its on/off all the time', so I know what it feels like to leave for a time.
Ahhhh, yes, finals. I remember what those were like... i'm trying to get into grad school so I guess i'll be remembering in person soon'ish....
I guess it makes sense that the summer would be more in and out for people.
Just generating conversation. It's funny, it is the first time that most of the PC's I have played along with have died or were retired / the person behind them has decided to take a break... Not a big deal really, just have to get something different going.
90% of the ones that announce they are quitting return, eventually. It's the ones that leave quietly you never see again. :(
But breaks can be good. Burnout occurs, as well as other frustrations and what-not. Some time out can be just the remedy.
And some of us have kids that are in sports or getting ready to start school. It is a vicious cycle but family comes first along with commitments. Efu goes thru cycles like every server. In a couple months it will be full and you won't even be able to log on.
As it happens, yes, this happpens every four months or so.

Today, we will be studying the migational habits of the indigenous basement dweller. See how the overweight, nerdy-looking thirty-something sits and stares at his screen. Oh no! It is the basement dweller's natural enemy, the mother! Oh my, it seems a confrontation is unavoidable, and the indigenous basement dweller is, so to speak, out on his tush. Ah, but what is this? A beautiful sub-species of supermodelus hotgirlae? It seems that the basement dweller has found a new purpose in life, and will leave his basement cocoon for a season. Fascinating.
Do imagine all of that in a stately British gentleman's accent, of course. :)
Nah, people leave, and people come back, and people join anew. It happens. I'll be leaving for a while once the Summer work season swings 'round, same as some of you others. Such is life.
