Well.. if you wrote a letter in game you might have got a response. Something along the lines of "Agent Elapidae is dead, talk to this person".
Second, alot of what you are ranting on about is probably stuff to not be mentioned in the forums.
And third, don't get frustrated. It is just a game, and people do have real things going in their lifes. :)
Firstly, the agent you were told to contact is now dead.
Secondly, This serve runs at real time. So one week IRL = one week IG.
Thirdly, No one actively or purposefully ignores people without a cause. Its been crazy in game for the most part, most likely you'll need to use another method of communication. Sometimes its just hard to get a hold of people. Sometimes you need to send a PM to the specific player of the character you want to contact. (This is really recommended for those too secretive info transfers)
Forthly, You should've probably sent this to the DM team in an email so they could address your concerns.
Lastly, While it may look like this server only tailors to a few, in reality, is just a matter of being familiar with how things work. If you are having trouble, just about anyone (who isn't concentrating on something else) would be willing to spare a moment to give advice.
Well, I think I can offer plot, but it may be the kind of plot that gets you quickly killed, but if that appeals...

Thats shameless advertising Charm.
You should stick with it, because you must be one helluve spy. My PC has been with the Mithrilsouls since the first of the year and knows nothing of the plot of which you speak. On another note, if such a plot was brewing, you have effectively seen to its end, and possibly the end of anything else we have been trying to do.
I am not making this post for a forum war, and this will be my only reply here. If you want me to clarify further, feel free to send me a PM
To be honest, this server is kind of elitist in my opinion.
Though I may just be making an argument for argument sake.
In my experience, in the past, the players who are taken seriously are the ones who appear to be articulate (IE: Proper Grammar, spelling and have propably read the dictionary once or twice.)
For example, and I hate to use myself but I can't think of anyone else as I've been gone for a while, but if my character's Ivandur or Mormont, who were vert often involved happen to not capitalize their sentences or phrases, or even mispelled several words often... I'd of probably not of been included much. More than likely I'd of just been ignored by other players involved who were more specific about their grammar and spelling, and would of slowly been "Removed" from the plot.
The only saving grace is that those players who are a bit more skilled and still articulate tend to rise above the articulate but less skilled players who shove aside their "lessers" and take command of the plot. Some of these players are awesome, most of them are. Some aren't.
So I'm not sure if this was one of your main points or if I'm just bringing it up out of the blue, but I personally feel this is a very elitist server and either you love the player base or you hate it. IE: Either you fit in or you don't, and if you want to fit in you tend to stick around and learn how to improve yourself.
Now, I don't feel this is neccesarily "Right". But I think it has some good points. The sad fact is players are usually judged on how well they present themselves grammatically. At least, I tend to judge them so and I feel I'm not a minority. So regardless how well of a roleplayer they might be, they are usually written off as disposable if they use "i" instead of "I".
I guess my best advice is to make the effort to put up that front, so people don't judge.
I really don't mean this post to be rude or mean, and I still stand by it, even if it's blunt. I'm just tossing in my 2 cents.
Inquisitor, I think this might be one of the most useful things you have ever said.
Wow.
Yeah. I expected either that, or me being put to the torch.
Inquisitor is correct. We like to use propper grammar and spelling IG for the same reason books do so. It is much easier upon the eyes, and easier to take in. If I see someone using 'i', I often cringe.
But my point is, that we're somewhat wrong.
"i" or "I" doesn't change the message delivered. "I'm Spartacus" and "i'm sPartacus" are still the same message, and should still be just as powerful regardless of mistakes.
This server has a consistent record of helping terrible typers become much more proficient, and of helping people whose first language is not English read and write in this language. I think everyone should strive to speak as close as possible to what is considered present-day 'book' English, for reasons which are many and need not be raised here. This being said, in no way do I alter my IC behavior towards others if they are bad spellers and/or use incorrect grammar.
I'm sorry, I don't understand what the initial post is about.

Emphasis for laughs. :)
Well, as a foreign player in this server (non english-native speaker) I can say that some times people get distant by minor issues, and some times they just value your RP , even knowing that sometimes i do mistakes.
First i holded myself from speak some things that i was not certain about the gramar, like "we should had tryed to catch thoso monsters"or "We should had tried to catch that monsters" now i just shoot them, and i don't feel like only creating low int chars to justify that . And if i just ignore the minority who ignores me. I had a friend who played some time in the server and made kind of silent chars to not risk the mispell...
Well i am not against the correct writing of english, I am just not alongside with perfectionism.
If this happens just find people who don't care about spelling, they are around
Besides, for what it's worth, i'd like to congratulate those people on the server for whom english is a not a native language. You have a damn good level in the foreign language.
On a serious note, proper capitalization and punctuation are preferred here!
Related to your OP, it can be hard to get started on any server, but keep looking and trying. There are PC's out there that will get you involved in what they are doing, and do want you.
i to agree that spelling and gramer is importent if yu want to be takin serosly in rp.
And yes, kudos to me then, for having such expertise in speaking foreign languages. I don't pride myself in being good enough at English to be one of those lucky few who everyone else adore however.
It must be said, prejudice is such that if you see one who spells like I did in the first sentence, you will most probably immediately identify him to be the kind of person who only plays on EfU to do quests, get cash and phat lewt, or to level their characters. This is an insane way to look at people however, though I admit I certainly do it.
People speaking like Oroborous on a 20 int wizard -will- get more OOC and IC attention when they talk, then that 18 cha guy who uses emotes because typing 'Hello' is too much of a challenge. This is hard to change, and I wouldn't want to be forced to acknowledge the existence of the characters who don't really even know information about the current state of the city, different laws or other things OOC'ly, when their characters should know all that.
Getting into plots is, however. However I say, not completely related to your English. This is a very hard server to get into at first, and after spending about a year total time here, I am finally about to enter the heavier sort of RP. Just hang in there, enjoy the small, valuable jewels of RP, and your English will develop just as much as your understanding of the server and your skills at RP.
ill will hire a editor to type fore me ....then i will kill you all one by one.
The Iconaclast ill will hire a editor to type fore me ....then i will kill you all one by one.
Inquisitor, WHAT HAVE YOU DONE?!?
As a relatively new player here, I have found it really easy to integrate into plots, had loads of RP fun and such, and I have only been here a few days, so, in short I can't really agree with the [now edited] op. I have to admit, I cannot abide bad English, but I do make the odd typo. Personally, if someone admits their mistake, and corrects it, it becomes much easier to see a player as a RPer, and not just a quest/exp whore, of which there are very few compared to some other servers. The only problem I have had, thus far, has been from other newish players, that seem to have to harass people with pm's in game, telling me what my character would do in battle. Personally, I like to RP even when in a quest situation, which I'm sure is relatively normal, and I know when my character would go slamming a mace into an enemy, and when they would not..so to speak. However, EFU is loads of fun, and I hope to stay here for a long time
sooo if you dont have the typeing, spelling, and grammer skills for what ever reason you are a number crunching, exp grabbing, looting fool and will not be taken seriousely you people make me want too puke! seriousely! ever heard of (it wont be spelled right , so those of you with tender senabiltys ,avert ypur eyes!)deslexia! since i have a small disability,I.E. spelling and writeing you would marginalise and ignore ,wheres the acecptance and understanding in the trash i guess this thred only shows me why i should find other things to do with my time ...like rp the old way with books, dice and imananation! sincerly the fool retard iconaclast p.s. normaly i would have consulted my dictinary for every word but youall ant worth it ...seya!

Well, I'm quite new too. I'm Italian and I speak english. I had been in other servers before where the "pros" were those who used correct grammar and capitalization and the "others" were those who didnt. I always played in the "others" faction, cause I simply never realized how much would "perfectionists" care about it. I didnt understand why I was never involved in anything, or people didnt care too much about my RP and my characters. Well, now I do. Being a perfectionist in my mother tongue I can do nothing but agree this way of behaving, even if sometimes its a bit too harsh. So well, please try to tell people how to write, not just ignore them or keep them aside. And yes, I see here a much more friendly community rather than other pws... So well what I wanted to say with all this? I dont know... I hope it meant something for anyone.
It isn't really about perfectionism. As someone who is trying to learn a second language presently, I understand how difficult it can be.
I see those common errors that stem from being non native, and those that stem from laziness. For instance, if someone habitually does not capitalize, they are probably just lazy, and I tend to avoid them. If you aren't going to try, neither am I. However, if you are using the wrong verb, or the wrong tense of the right verb... or take a longer way of saying something since you haven't got the vocabulary to say it any shorter... these things strike me instantly as someone who is simply unfamiliar with the language. It is these people whom I generally strive to use my very best English around. I know the value of having good examples of a foreign language.
Reading proper examples of a new language are -extremely- valuable and I make an effort to provide those. Yes, it can be frustrating to communicate. I know this all too well as I am currently living in a country where the language is not my native language.
And now I realize I'm kinda straying from the general thread. Yes, the server tends to be rough on people who are lazy. But for those of you who are genuinely trying to learn English, just stick with it. If you are more comfortable not speaking for a while, that is fine. Just make a point of hanging around people who are giving you good examples to learn from. Online games like this are almost as good as living in a foreign country for learning a new language. The immersion is very similar and if you stick with it, you will learn. I promise you. My girlfriend learned English the same way; through MMOs and voice chat. When you hear and see good examples constantly, you learn.
So stick with it. Please. Whether you sit back and listen, or actively try to participate, it really doesn't matter. But do keep trying!
Welcome aboard Ganon!
The main reason for this post and many others like it is the frustration of not getting things accomplished in game. Often it is due to how much time is required to make server-wide changes. Unfortunately this thread of posts became a rant on written communication and the original poster left in anger.
Do not worry, it is usually obvious to most players that those who appear to be trying to communicate and RP and those who want to push the conversation along only so that they can quest.
It is always recommended that you start out looking for existing groups on the server and get yourself hired. There are neither 'pro' or 'other' factions here, just those that are full of people and those that need more people.
This will allow you to get into some interesting stories and learn more about the server than trying to do it alone. Which is another good thing about the server, you will do much better in a group than going solo - leave that for single player games.
Ciao
Welcome to the Underdark Ganon! I believe you're our first Italian player.
I constantly make spelling errors and gramatical mistakes. Anyone who plays with me also knows that I am prone to the fatAL CAPS LOCK MISTAKE. Point is that mistakes happen, especially if english is a second language! See it as an opportunity to get better, I for one won't judge you, but I may correct you if I see a consistent error. This is for your benefit, not my own! Also, don't be shy about it. Rock out with your jock out, do the best you can and the playerbase will respond to your efforts.
Going back to the orignal post, a lot of times you'll try to reach someone in quest for an extended RP session and they'll be busy. A lot of times someone will be looking for you and you'll be busy. It's just the nature of the game. People get busy in their real lives, they get busy in their imagined ones, busy happens. If you can't find who you are looking for, then look for someone else. Talk to enough people and you're sure to make friends and enemies.
Also, Inquisitor, I'd like to point out your first post had at least 5 spelling and gramar mistakes and that I don't care about any of them. :P
Hukt on fonix wurkt 4 mee! *Looks around for the spell check tab…* :?
This is not about being lazy it’s about patience. Learn to look beyond the spelling and grammar and find the person. If you were sitting at a table talking to them, you may actually like them.
Although he lived for many years in the United States and was fully bilingual, Einstein claimed never to be able to write in English because of (as he put it) "the treacherous spelling". So just because somebody can spell, does not make them smarter than another, it only means they can spell better.
We want capitalisation for the same reasons books are in proper English. It is better on the eye, and the subtlety of language can portray the nature of what's going on in a frankly surprising way. It's a big ++ for me.
I was more forgiving on spelling and typing issues than on 6 cha.
Still am.
By the way, this post should be titled, "Man -comma- what does a guy have to do?"
Man, wha does a character has to do ? YOOS! whatta somengyz hav 2 does?
