Despite the many dangers of the Underdark, the city continues to grow, become more powerful, more organized and better able to defend itself.

The city is 153 years old. It is not only conceivable, given the current rate of progress, it is very likely that one day, a means of contact or communication, possibly even regular contact, with the surface, will be possible.

Many of us have those on the surface we wish to talk to. Friends or family, kings or mayors, our children, or grandchildren, distant relatives or close ones, friends, our clans, our tribes, our villages, cities or hamlets, religious orders, scholastic associations or others. There are many we wish to tell what happened to us, to send other messages or to simply tell them that we love them and never forgot about them.

Death stalks all of us in this place, despite the fact that elves, gnomes and dwarves are long lived, you may not live long enough to see contact made with the surface.

All are invited to write a letter to anyone on the surface that you wish. Deposit it with us and you have our solemn oath, promise and vow, made to the Gods, that these letters will be protected and safeguarded, be it for one year, ten, or three hundred. Every effort will be made to see that one day every letter reaches it’s destination. There is NO COST for this service.

Please include with your letter: 1. The intended recipient. 2. The intended destination of the recipient. 3. Any other recipient(s) you wish the letter sent to, if the intended recipient cannot be found.

For example:

Please send this letter to John Everyman, at the temple of Gond in Waterdeep. If by the time this letter is sent John no longer lives, please send the letter to whoever is the priest of the temple of Gond in Waterdeep. If the temple of Gond in Waterdeep no longer stands, please delivery this to any temple of Gond on the surface.

Please send this letter to my daughter, Sarah Everywoman. When I last saw her, she was in the village of Towndale, in Cormyr. If she no longer lives, please give it to any of family that can be found, if none can be found, to the Mayor of Towndale or the temple of X.

I am a soldier in the army of Calimport. Please send this letter to any officer of the army of Calimport.

Please send this letter to the Scholar Bob at the Scholars Society of Magic in the Sembian city of City. If Bob no longer lives, deliver it the leader, or any member to the Scholar's Society of Magic.

Please send this letter to the Bank of Neverwinter, regardless of the date.

The confidentiality of every letter is guaranteed. Please send these letters to Gravekeeper Tomborn at the city mausoleum. They will be stored safely till they can eventually be delivered.
