The Holy Rites of Pain
The Holy Rites of Pain are an ancient tradition passed down by the faithful of Loviatar, the Maiden of Pain, who has gifted this world with pain so that we may learn to live and understand pleasure. There is no church of Loviatar in this Sanctuary, no chapel where these Rites are performed, but our bodies serve as shrines and places of worship. The Rites are performed in stages, and only those that have undergone the earlier Rites may participate in the more advanced ones.
The Holy Rite of Initiation - 100 gold
The First Holy Rite of Pain is the Holy Rite of Initiation. This Rite enlightens the participant as to the role of pain in his or her life, and teaches the basics of the worship of Loviatar. This Rite must be undertaken before any others.
Basic Explorations
Basic Explorations are available only to those who have completed the Holy Rite of Initiation.
The Holy Rite of Blades - 50 gold
A basic exploration of the nature of pain, for those who wish to delve deeper into the mysteries of the Willing Whip.
The Holy Rite of Absolution - 100 gold
This exploration draws emotional pains to the surface through the infliction of physical pain. It is used to cleanse the mind and refresh it.
The Holy Rite of Bruising - 50 gold
Another basic exploration, this time a lesson in the persistence of pain and physical memory.
Advanced Explorations
Advanced Explorations are available only to those who have completed two Basic Explorations. These are not yet available to the public.
The Holy Rite of Scarring - 100 gold
A more advanced exploration into the persistence of pain and physical memory.
The Holy Rite of the Threshold - 150 gold
The Holy Rite of the Threshold is meant to determine a supplicant's ability to withstand various manners of physical pain, and their pain threshold. It is a revelation of the capabilities of the self.
The Holy Rite of Fire - 200 gold
The Holy Rite of Fire explores one of the three pain that never fail the devout.
The Holy Rite of Cold - 200 gold
The Holy Rite of Cold explores one of the three pains that never fail the devout.
The Holy Rite of the Lash - 200 gold
The Holy Rite of the Lash explores one of the three pains that never fail the devout.
