Patriots,
My opponents like to call me zealous and I couldn't agree more. I could not be more fervent and passionate about Sanctuary. I would do anything for it, to see it safer, to see the lives of its wonderful, hardworking citizens made just a little better. However, do not confuse my zealousness for Sanctuary with a detachment from reality. By no means do I think that with ideals alone, suddenly the whole of the city will begin to hold hands and sing in harmonious utopia (though I do support the idea of an Anthem).
I want you to know that as a councilor I have a plan for the future. With a few small changes to the budget, the public works program could be a lasting way to ensure improvements to the whole community. With just slight wording changes to laws already in place, we could get rid of random searches, and allow people to their privacy. I'll make information more public without any changes at all, simply by reading the reports I get and passing them on to you. I'm happy for you to know everything I do, this way when the Unseelie attack our gates looking for something next time, maybe we'll actually know what and where that thing is.
Sanctuary needs a new mayor. As wonderful an overseer as Azzam has been, its time we returned to the system that has worked for over 150 years. Though I have not spoken with him personally about it, I wouldn't be surprised if even Azzam was eager to find a replacement. A new mayor would by nature add more citizen oversight in our way of rule and bring us out of the current state of quasi martial law. Choosing a mayor could be as simple as handing the honor to the council member who earned the most votes each term. You don't need to worry, enough of you hate me out there that it likely wouldn't be me. In this way, the people would decide who was best suited to lead and then also who was best to suited lead those leaders.
As you can see, the changes I propose would be both slight and simple, but would have a nice impact on our city. But I need your vote to do it, if I'm not up there to propose them, I doubt any of my competitors will.
