Broken and beaten to a hair's breath from death by the relentless Watchman Koinus Stern, Elrahir ponders his dilemma. He is in a cell full of rocks and has been told that to be released he must search them for ore. Elrahir, adamant that he has been wrongly accused, refuses to bow down to this corrupt legal system, and refuses to break rocks, as he has done nothing wrong.
Accused of spell casting, he has done no such thing. In fact until very recently his deity, Aerdrie Faenya, refused to grant him power to cast spells (perhaps on account of his temperment being slightly shaken following his abduction from his elven home on the surface). He believes that has been rectified, however, he has yet to cast a spell since being taken to the underdark what seems like eons ago, although in truth was likely only a matter of days or weeks.
He wonders if "Sanctuary" is any such thing at all. He has received no better treatment here than he did amongst the slavers, whom he recently escaped from -- at least they didn't beat him (didn't want to damage the goods as it would lower the value he imagined).
Again, he asks the Corporal, who is standing nearby to please notify a Captain of the Watch; and this time not to go through Watchman Stern as Watchman Stern has refused to comply with any requests for an audience.
Elrahir has vowed to starve before he breaks any rocks, unless a Captain will come and hear his case.
Being unable to sleep as he has no bedroll to protect him from cold stone floor, he sits and patiently begins his fast.
